My name is Steve Cook, I was born in 1963, had an intrest in music and records at an early age, the first pop song I can ever recall hearing was The Legend Of Xanadu by Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mitch & Tich when I was five, I got my first guitar in 1973 and formed a band with my school friends called Eclipse playing music of the glam rock of the early 70's, not much happned after that untill 1979, I started to take it more seriously, I played in many bands including Best Of Blues Finalists 1990 - The Impossibles, I also played bass guitar for The Key Frances Band in 1987 also the early Big Joe Louis & Hid Blues Kings (with no bass guitar), but the band I spent the most years with was The Motel Kings, we were together for ten years traveled the whole country, made three cds, opened for many of the big blues and rock acts, and played many big blues festivels, later I began to feel restricted in the band and not happy with the music scene I was in - clone guitar players were fast becoming seen as good thing and tribute bands were destroying the live music scene, my opinion has not changed on these matters, A turning point for me came in 1997 when I was In Austin Texas, my friend Dan Frezek (Bobby Mac Band) he took me to a blues jam, I knew I could sing Slim Harpos Te-Ne-Nee Ne-Nu because I sometimes had to do it at sound checks for the Motel Kings, off I went and Bang! the whole club was up and dancing! that night I knew I had to quit the band I was in and concentrate on my own thing, I decided to take some time off the music scene (I call the wilderness years) and concentrate on song writing and to one day front my own band, today I play as a three piece playing my songs along with some well chosen rhythm & blues, hopefully a cd will be out soon.
