Steve is originally from Rhyl, North Wales but now lives very happily in an old lady's roof-space in West London. He mostly writes infront of muted tv police shows and performs them at gigs all over. Like most songwriters he describes himself in the third person but tends to avoid self-generated hyperbole.
The Causeway E.P will be availiable on CD from September 18th and contains the five tracks you can hear above. The Causeway E.P was recorded live in May 2009 at 3Sixty Studios in Fulham in front of a small group of biscuit eating friends.
Over the years Steve has opened shows for Seasick Steve, Devon Sproule, Paul Curreri, Danny Schmidt, Lau, Davy Graham, Steve Tilston, Wizz Jones...etc....always the bridesmaid!
Steve is 28, has a job, asthma, a fondness for Guinness and a happy heart.
After you've finished here, you may like to hear this folk-carol on myspace... Poem 230 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (see my blog for details): CHRISTMAS SUNG SIMPLY
As gospellers have said, Beneath signalling skies, On land dusty to tread, A trough in a stable Was the strawy first-bed Of a divine baby - The forgiving Godhead.
A season for new hope - There then and here now; The yuletide of goodwill - There then and here now.
In respect of this chance, Beneath bright or dark skies, Faith's the star that we glance Attending Christ's churches And trying to enhance, With singing and ritual, Our God-loving stance.
Hey Steve, how's it going? Long time no see - but looks like you're good and busy! Just wanted to invite you over to my 'space' - got a new live video up...hope you enjoy it!
Hey, hope all well and everything ticking along nicely. Looking forward to catching you play soon and having a chin wag with the "Captain" in attendance
You bloody talented musical whizzkid you, almost forgot about your unmitigated powers. And your surname.
Love the songs Steve. Would you belive it, but I'm listening to these tuneful treats in a bleak Youth Hostel in Bahrain. I kid you not. Life takes you on some strange paths sometimes.
Lots of love, back to Blighty soon, gonna try n catch you play
And here you are. Glad to say you are on my top friends. Your voice sounds freer these days Stephen Ferbrache. can't wait til the 18th of September. Autumn celebrations. Lets make it a special night. You sound so much more mature!!
Dan referred to Steve in the second person whilst referring to himself in the third person. The first person was fed up with being forgotten so went home with no supper.
All the best with the recordings, I’ll be linking to you a lot.
Guys! Don't know if you remember me, but I've just listened to a cover The Cuckoo and reminded me of how much I used to enjoy the open mic at Green Note, listening to you play and playing too. I hope to look you up sometime when I'm next in the UK! Take care:) Nate Maingard
howdy loved your stuff on tuesday night, steve's got a hell of a voice. would love to poach your fiddle player & really sweet banjo, (i hear people attack the banjo hard so often & Siobhan sounded more like she was just gently encouraging it to make it's natural noise). hope to see you around again real soon cheers mark
