  • Music

My teen years were spent in the 1980's, and although there were some pretty awful groups from that era, it was a great time to really hear a variety of tunes.

My sophomore year I hung out with Alex, who had a huge mowhawk, and Randy his death metal friend. They introduced me to Megadeath and Slayer. After that I was hooked on metal, and went to a lot of small and large venue shows through high school. At a Testament/SOD concert at the Vic Theatre in Chicago, I moshed in the pit and the music was so loud it broke Alex's ear drum. Billy Milano of SOD did a stage dive off the amps, and later went up in the balcony during a song to beat some guy up. Ah, those were the days..

In sharp contrast to my metal loving years, I also played violin in the school orchestra from fourth grade till my freshman year in college. So I really enjoy enjoy classical music, especially Mozart.

Music groups I like: Iron Maiden, Slayer, Metallica, SOD, Slip Knot, System of a Down, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Devo, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, CCR, The Smashing Pumpkins, Anthrax, pop '80's music and lots more. My music player was removed by the folks at Myspace so I guess I have to use their player to add music. We shall see.

If the music on your radio is the pits in your area, check out www.live-radio.net. You can listen any station on this web site that has a live feed. And it is free! Right now I am listening to an alternative station out of Soborg, Denmark. Cool Cool!

I spend too much time on the internet to watch TV :) Well that and working nights keeps me away from the darn thing.

About me:

Currently I am in transition. After 13 years of earning money in one way or another with a camera, I now have a full time job outside of photography. This has allowed me to pursue some of the projects that I never got around to, because I was always so busy trying to make money with the camera, and the personal work always took a back seat.

I have a diverse photographic background. I am a fine art photographer who also spent 10 years as a photojournalist. I am comfortable in the studio, and I also create tintypes and ambrotypes with the wet plate collodion process invented 150 years ago.

I enjoy taking landscape photographs, portraiture and still life images. Journalism heavily influenced me, and I hardly ever set up a shot even in my landscape and portrait work. I find that subjects are better when they are un-posed and un-altered.

I have worked with just about every camera from 35mm and digital to medium format, large format, wet plate cameras and even pinhole cameras made out of potato chip cans.

Currently I have two web sites, one for my modern work and another for my historical photography work. My modern work can be found at www.steveingramphoto.com. My site for historical photography is www.tintypist.com

I've been shooting black and white film again after a long absence. My new favorite 35mm film camera is a Ricoh from the late 1960's. I have also been shooting with my Holga and my 4x5 camera as well. Oh yea, my little toy digital has been a lot of fun too.

This is what it is like keeping up with production at Kraft Foods :) I am in the warehouse and have to put away the products as they are made. Some days are just insane.

Who I'd like to meet:

I like to meet just about anyone. I most enjoy people that are honest with their intentions, and not full of themselves. Lately I have enjoyed meeting past friends that had come and gone in my life. Myspace is a great way to reconnect, and I am throughly enjoying having fun and talking to old friends and family again. Here is a video of John Coffer. I spent a four day weekend at the Wet Plate Jamboree at his farm in upstate New York. It was awesome, and I learned a lot and had a great experience.

Here we are, all together with black fingers from working with wet plate photos all week, at the 2007 Wet Plate Jamboree.

Wet Plate Jamboree..
