Me, myself, and I...My sister lays down cello tracks. I record my songs on a analog 4-track and perform all the instruments and vocals. I sometimes use an Alesis SR-16 drum machine.

I'm Korean-American, born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area.
I take pictures of various things in my spare time. You can see my photos at:

I began playing piano at the age of four, followed by stints with cello, clarinet, and alto clarinet in my teens. I was taught by my mother, who was a concert pianist in her youth and a Van Cliburn competitor. My sister is a brilliant cello player who was principal chair for the SF Youth Orchestra back in the eighties.
When I was a child, I thought of music as a chore (performance, theory, history, etc.), so my mom "allowed" me to quit playing music at age 15, although I continued to study music theory and classical history in college.
I began my genuine interest in playing & performing music in my mid-twenties, when I picked up guitar and started singing and writing tunes with a couple of old high school buddies. We formed a garage band (called "Topload") that played a total of three house parties. After the group "disbanded" in 1998, I worked on some tracks with my then singer-girlfriend, which comprised of acoustic guitar and dual vocals. We wrote "Pictures & Paper" together.
I then started working on solo tracks in my apartment back in 1999, the initial stages of the "Steve W Lee solo project", and it's continued off and on over the last 10 years or so, while I'm involved in other music projects.
I'm the vocalist/bassist in two Bay Area bands, GRISSOM and BRNR. You can check out the bands' myspace pages at:

I currently record & practice in a soundproofed studio that I built in the garage of my house. My solo style is mostly acoustic/electric guitar mixed with piano and multi-layered vocals. People have said that my music sounds 60's influenced...
I use a Fender DeVille combo tube amp with my Gibson Les Paul Studio guitar. I also use a Fender 12-string acoustic guitar. I play a Fender Jazz Precision bass, with an Ampeg SVT-3 head and Ampeg 4x10 and 1x15 cabinets. I just bought a Rhodes Mark I 88 Stage Piano on July 10, 2008!! I sometimes use an Alesis SR-16 drum machine when I can't find a drummer. I record it all on a Yamaha 4-track and transfer the tracks to Cool Edit Pro (the 1997 version) on my computer.
