Only 27 years old, Steve Lyman has established himself as a definitive voice among todays modern/contemporary music worlds. A graduate of The New School in New York City, Steve was part of the booming underground music scene that enabled him to play with some of the greatest minds in todays music. Performance/recording credits include: Kurt Rosenwinkel, Bill Mchenry, Jose James, George Colligan, Junior Mance, Ben Street, George Garzone, Joe Martin, Logan Richardson, Frank LoCrasto, Nir Felder, Chris Tordini, Thomas Morgan, Tyshawn Sorey, Greg Ruggiero, Ben van Gelder, Gideon van Gelder to name a few. From 2006-2008 Steve was the drummer for Brownswood/Verve recording artist Jose James, whos recording entitled 'The Dreamer' in which Steve played on, was voted 21 in JazzTimes top 50 records of 2008. Together they toured Europe extensively between 2007 and 2008, and played virtually every EU Country. Quite apart from that, Steve also grew as a bandleader and still currently has the great fortune to have his band as a frequent guest at the World-renowned Smalls Jazz Club, where his band has played several times a year since 2006. Steve now resides in his hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah, where he plans to pursue his Masters in Music in 2010 while maintaining his hub as a freelance musician both locally and internationally.
