A 'go-to' drummer, Steve Lyman is becoming one of the premier up and coming drummers in the nation. After moving to New York in 2005 from his hometown of Salt Lake City to attend the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, Steve had the great fortune to play/tour/record with some of the top musicians this World over. Musician credits include: Bill McHenry, George Garzone, George Colligan, Junior Mance, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Ben Street, Wynton Marsalis, Brian Bromberg, Thomas Morgan, Gilad Hekselman, Frank LoCrasto, Nir Felder, to name a few. In 2006 Steve teamed up with Vocalist Jose James with whom he recorded and toured in his band from 2006-2008. Jose's record dubbed 'The Dreamer' in which Steve played drums on went on to international acclaim, voted 21 of the top 50 albums in 2008 by JazzTimes Magazine. Steve has toured France, Spain, UK, Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden, Italy, Ecuador, as well various places around the East/West Coast. Steve also had the great fortune to teach alongside Jazz-drum heavyweight Billy Hart, at Montclair State University from 2007-2008. Ontop of his sidework Steve also played with his band at the World renowned Smalls Jazz Club in New York City multiiple times a year since 2007. Steve currently resides in his hometown of Salt Lake City, where he plans to obtain his Masters in Music.
