Giant chunks of the history of recorded music...particularly: The Beatles, Radiohead, Midnight Oil, Led Zeppelin, John Lennon, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne (The Move/ELO), The Who, Mott the Hoople, Elliott Smith, Crosby Stills & Nash, Neil Young, R.E.M., Big Star, The Byrds, Nick Drake, The Turtles, Traffic (and so many more that I won't bore you with a long long list)
Sounds Like
Vibrations, propagating through the air. Guitars. Voice. The good kind.
27 months. 11 songs. 38 minutes of music I hope you like.
"Unbridled energy and a commitment to maintaining the epic quality of the pop tunes he's recording. It proves that this jack-of-all-trades singer-songwriter has an solid artistic vision."-- Mike Baker, Splendid Magazine
"Like John Lennon singing Radiohead songs."-- Andy Ross, OK Go
Much like the first solo albums of Paul McCartney and Emitt Rhodes, Glorified Demos -- an indie rock collection by way of mid-sixties Liverpool and early-seventies basements -- was recorded at home with Steve Moss playing every instrument and performing every production role himself.
Taking up drums at sixteen after sitting in with a friend's band, Steve played in groups through high school and college. Making the move from rhythm to melody, the drummer picked up guitar in college.
"After college, I went through a period where everything came apart for a few years. Jobs and friends fell through, and I ended up with a lot of time on my hands. Part of my process for picking up the pieces became writing songs."
Recorded over a period of 27 months, multitracking to computer using a single microphone, the garage pop anthems on Glorified Demos began simply: "The whole project started as a proof of concept - testing out ideas as I wrote." Early simple experiments rapidly grew in both ambition and polish into fully produced arrangements and performances.
The 11 songs of Glorified Demos form a semi-autobiographical song cycle of resolve, struggle, loneliness and love.

Hello! Passing out some show info for shows we have in the Albany area this weekend:
Ben Karis-Nix and band will be playing two shows in their native Albany. Now dubbed the 'Lightning Strikes Twice' tour, these dates are in support of two excellent respective causes: Fire relief and Rock. *New show details appear below*
1/18 - Tonight: Valentine's Music Hall (17 New Scotland Ave., Albany, New York 12207) featuring The Spike Emerson Society, BKN, and 28N closing the night (www.myspace.com/28n). The aim of this show is the more ignoble of the two; the melting of the face and forcible sock ejection.
1/20 - Sunday: Tess's Lark Tavern (453 Madison Ave., Albany, NY 12210) This event is a benefit for Eric and Karen Buckley (www.myspace.com/buckleybenefits) who lost all of their worldly possessions in a recent house fire. BKN at 4:15 PM. Many, many more performers!! For a list of performers & set times check out www.myspace.com/buckleybenefits.
We hope to see you there!
