NEWS UPDATE!!!
On November 12 2008, Steven finally got to play his first show with The Bacon Brothers (actor Kevin Bacon and his brother michaels band)... read the review of the show at http://www.bostonmusicspotlight.com/article.php?id=1624
On 9/19/08, Steven met Oscar & Grammy award winning songwriter/actor Glenn Hansard, star of the movie "ONCE". The two met while Steven was busking on Comm. ave in Boston, outside the Agannis Arena where Glen's band "The Swell Season" was about to play. In the middle of the concert Glen invited Steven on stage to let the crowd "hear a real busker". Steven performed his song "Charlie wants to run" before several thousand Swell Season fans and received a standing ovation. Go to Steven's photos page for pics. The full story is posted at www.stevenbacon.com/the_glen_page
the boston globe ran a feature story about Steven's performance with Glen Hansard at:
On Saturday, September 13, 2008, Steven won First Place in the Lizard Lounge's (Cambridge, MA) songwriter "Main Event" competition. The "Main Event" brought together the winners of Tom Bianchi's weekly songwriter open mic challenges from the past 6 months to compete for the first place title (and cash prize).
Steven will be putting his winnings towards the recording of his next album, entitled "Notes from the Underground" (he's a full-time subway performer and a die hard Dostoevsky fan...)

As we performed at AS220 in Providence and later talked music, I knew there was a special quality within you. Congratulations on the Agganis performance....talk about being the right person, in the right, place at the right time.....sounds like destiny to me.

The audio from that night at the Agganis is outstanding...what a crowd, after already knowing your story (and Glens) hearing it almost brought me to tears. If it was me I probably would have been so overjoyed at the crowd response that I would have just laughed my way through half of the song. It's the fulfilment of every buskers dream!
