Influences
In evaluating my influences, I realized that I have quite a few.
Among them are Robert Johnson, Charley Patton, Huddie Ledbetter, Son House, Barbecue Bob Hicks, Blind Willie McTell, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Sonny Terry, Brownie McGee, Elmore James, Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, Earl Hooker, John Lee Hooker, Howlin' Wolf, Magic Sam Maghett, The three kings: Albert, B.B. and Freddie, John Hammond, Rory Block, Sonny Landreth, Duane Allman, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, SRV, Buddy Guy, Billy Gibbons, Gary Rossington, Danny Gatton, Steve Cropper, Matt Murphy, T-Bone Walker, Lightning Hopkins, Albert Collins, Robben Ford, Robin Trower, Pat Travers, Frank Marino, Taj Mahal, Rory Gallagher, Keb Mo, Johnny Winter, Alvin Lee, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Ronnie Earl, Duke Robilard, Kelly Joe Phelps, Kenny Neal, Jimmie Rogers, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Elvis, Jame Burton, Bonnie Raitt...and so many more...
What to tell........
I've been playing for over 25 years and have played in several unique situations.
Because of some ongoing health problems, my musical career (if you can call it that) and life have been quite an adventure.
From the earliest of my recollection, I knew I was supposed to play the guitar. My first few interactions with the instrument were not all that spectacular but life and time have a funny way of working out.
Over the years, I have re-invented myself in terms of playing style....sound... etc. Now that I've gotten older (and hopefully wiser), I've found a home in playing a Louisiana / Mississippi hybrid slide style.
I've been told, by people who would know, that I sound like I am from Hammond, Louisiana....so I've adopted it as the second home I've never been to....whatever that means!
Chris Thomas King was recently in my neck of the woods...the real one... and he gave a clinic...Fortunately, we had a chance to talk quite a bit and through the clinic and the concert, he heard both my singing and playing and seemed to like what he heard. So, who knows....maybe there is something to this Louisiana influence...

Thanks for the add! Rufus Huff debut CD coming April 14th on ZOHO Roots in US & Europe!
Who's Rufus Huff? Named after two obscure Blues men Whistlin' Rufus and Luther Huff, the Glasgow, Kentucky-based Blues Rock quartet is made up of Dean Smith, Chris Hardesty, Jarrod England and Greg Martin, known for his raucous, incendiary electric guitar playing in the South's hardest country rockers, The Kentucky HeadHunters.
Rufus Huff, steeped in the tradition of Cream, Jeff Beck, Free, Led Zeppelin, Mountain, Jimi Hendrix’s Band of Gypsies, Cactus, and ZZ Top!!!!
Great pictures! I'd love to have those. I guess I can copy them from your site, yes? HOw would I do that? Thanks so much for being at the show. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks so much for the add. It's so refreshing to hear the blues, the way it was meant to be played! I love it; gonna go pick up the Dobro now because of you! Thanks dude

KEEP THE BLUES ALIVEEEE!!!!!!!
Appena sarà tutto pronto ti faremo sapere.
Dio ti benedica ancora, grazie. Suonate il blues più che potete!!!!!
Thank you for letting me know that my music touched your life in such a way. I do what I love and love what I do and this is what it is all about, music and the people it touches! Peace, Sonny
