Call me Hud. Since when did Texas need another three-named singer/songwriter/guitar slinger?
I have appreciated a good story my whole life, and I guess that's what attracts me to songwriting. The music bug bit me when my mom first let me bang on her 1948 Martin ukelele in the mid '60s. My first band was Henry Hudson and the Half Moons, named after a distant relative who'd stolen Manhattan from the natives, invented commercial whaling and was set adrift by his men while searching for the Northwest Passage in what is now known as Hudson Bay. There's a song in there somewhere.
Thanks to a fancy reel-to-reel tape deck my dad brought home from his China Beach tour of duty, I started teaching myself how to record music in high school.
In the studio, I've been lucky enough to witness and capture performances by some really great artists and songwriters on my side trips as an engineer and producer: Los Lonely Boys, Bruce Robison, David Halley, Stoney LaRue, Los Tailpipes, The Jolly Garogers, Alive, Johnny Law, and many more. I recently partnered up with Les Brooks at the revamped 5AM Studios in the heart of SoCo. It's really going to be a cool, great-sounding space when we're done. I am working on a couple records of my own songs that have been beating around for a few years.
From time to time I'll post some works-in-progress from the upcoming records. I hope you like them. "Your Ticket Out" is an old-school rocker featuring my favorite rhythm section in Austin, Scott Esbeck (Bruce Robison, Charlie Robison, Jack Ingram, Los Straightjackets) on bass and Keith Robinson (Beth Black, Murder My Sweet, Charlie Robison, Marsha Ball) on drums and Philadelphia's Jim Boggia on massive backing vocals.
Found you on the gear/@#$% page and enjoyed your post. I was mic pre overwelmed and settled on a pair of Wunder PEQ1R's. You song by the way kicks but which one are you in the picture? Thanks for the add. Sig
