STEVE ROBERTS.
GODSTICKS:
“Unique, but accessible: exactly what we need more of! Great stuff”
BILLY SHEEHAN
“A great, very easy to listen to original band with great melodies and flowing vocals. A true pleasure to listen to”
LARRY HARTKE (Hartke Systems)
"Godsticks is smart, level-headed prog, forgoing angel-wings and flights of rhetorical fancy for a more focused, quirkier, even poppier groove - made that much cooler by the punchy fretless stylings of bassist Jason Marsh. Definitely worth a listen."
BRYAN BELLER (Steve Vai, Mike Keneally, Solo artist)
"If you're one of those people that MUST categorise a band's music, you'll have to invent a new one called Progressive Jazz Rock for this band. They sound to me like Jeff Berlin and Allan Holdsworth meet Colloseum and Spock’s Beard. Jason Marsh's bass is bubbling all the way through, and the guitarist is doing wonderfully, unconventional things."
MARTIN SIMPSON (Bass Musician Magazine)
"Godsticks creates a heavenly fusion out of some unexpected sub-genres -- jazz, pop, rock and funk -- to recall the best work of artists like Jeff Beck, Mike Keneally, Level 42, Peter Gabriel, Steve Vai and Steely Dan."
BILL MEREDITH (JazzTimes and Jazziz magazines)
"Outlandishly original and mind-bending. Godsticks are a fantastic band."
MIKE KENEALLY (Composer)
Review of Noddys Puncture gig:
"However, just as you may be thinking that Szakaly is the sole star of the show, Szakaly and Conlon leave the stage for Roberts to perform a full ten minute one man percussion extravaganza of such quality, such intricacy, such sheer technical ability that he has every last one of the audience on the edge of their seats captivated until they rise as one to give him a richly deserved standing ovation. My guess is Carl Palmer would be as impressed by Roberts percussion work as Emerson is on record as being of Szakaly’s keyboard playing." ROCHDALE ONLINE(2006).

April 16th, 2008. I am sorry to hear the sad news of the passing of one of our great drummers of recent years : Brian Davison. An incredibly talented musician and an amazing drummer, he has continued to be a big influence to me since first hearing 'The Nice' over 25 years ago. Brian also played brilliantly on the 'Refugee' album along with Lee Jackson and Patrick Moraz and was an excellent teacher. Heartfelt thanks to Teri, Brian's family & friends for a wonderful evening of rememberance.
