You are right: I reviewed the House Journals and found that Tim Burns missed fully one/third (maybe more) of the roll call votes in the Special Ethics session earlier this year. He missed at least 30 out of 90 roll calls, and maybe more.

That's deplorable. He was absent for at least one full day out of the 12 day session. It's all there in black and white in the official House Journal. He missed at least 30 votes. There is no telling how many voice votes he missed or how many times someone else voted his machine: he refuses to answer that question every time someoe asks him about it.

I'm glad to know that you were there all day every day and that you did not miss a single vote! That shows who really cares about ethics reform and who is happy with the old status quo.
Congratulations!
Richard

**PHOTO EXCLUSIVE**

JANUARY 16, 2008--

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman has made good on a bet placed with his Louisiana counterpart over last week's national championship game.

Coleman wore a white LSU jersey to a recent City Council meeting. He says he wore the jersey in mourning and in great disappointment.

Coleman and Mayor Kip Holden of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, agreed to the wager in New Orleans on January 6th -- the day before LSU trounced Ohio State, 38-24.

THE DEAD PELICAN looked all over for the photos, and has now obtained photos of the mayor's ordeal!

Enjoy, LSU fans!

9th DISTRICT

Central and west Metairie, Elmwood, parts of Old Jefferson

State Rep. Steve Scalise of Jefferson rolled up 61 percent of the vote to win a primary victory over college professor Polly Thomas, 60, and engineer David Gereighty, 46. He will succeed Sen. Ken Hollis, R-Metairie, who is term-limited.

Scalise, 42, a systems engineer, touted tax credits for the state's film industry as his signature accomplishment in the House. He said he would oppose all tax increases and try to cut the size of state government if elected to the Senate.

He was term-limited in his House district.

Thomas, a former Jefferson Parish School Board member, was making her third try for the seat. She withdrew from the 1999 campaign against Hollis after developing health problems, and Hollis defeated her in 2003.

75 of 75 precincts | Votes | Pct.

Steve Scalise-R | 19,154 | 61

Polly Thomas-R | 8,948 | 29

David Gereighty-D | 3,154 | 10
