Influences
Everything. I have always loved acoustic guitar and "singer/songwriters/storytellers. Love Shawn McDonald, Warren Barfield, Derek Webb, Crowder, Shane and Shane, Gungor, Rice, Paul Wright, Mat Kearney and anyone else who isn't ashamed to play honest music that glorifies God.
Sounds Like
A distinct mixture of Me, Myself and I. This album was more worship centered so it is a little more "mellow" than what I have done in the past. The most important thing is the music glorifies God. I would say that is a worthy cause. I WELCOME ANY REQUESTS TO COME PLAY!! I WILL OPEN FOR YA, CLOSE FOR YA, SING TRACKS WITH YA, PRAISE GOD WITH YA
YOU CAN ADD ANY OF MY SONGS TO YOUR PROFILE IF YOU WISH!!!!
Been playing guitar and writing music for 20 years. I am a Christian Artist and use music to glorify God, plain and simple. My life is a testimony to what God can do with anyone who is willing. I am a recovering drug addict and alcoholic and my passion for life comes from being at the bottom. In 2005 I wrote a book "Into The Mirror" that outlines my life and my struggles. That can be read at www.stevesporre.blogspot.com.
If you would like to read my blog it can be found at www.jubalingen.blogspot.com. I am currently getting ready for the release of my new solo worship CD "I'm Ready". When I am not writing or playing too many video games (some things never change) I am a worship leader at a church in Hillsboro Oregon. MY CD WAS JUST REVIEWED..................... THIS REVIEW FROM SUITE 101's Jesse Cole..... Portland's Steve Sporre offers up his debut indie album, "I'm Ready," a mix of upbeat pop-rock and soulful acoustic worship.
A singer/songwriter and worshipper for twenty years, Sporre has a love for the word, written or spoken, and it shows on this collection of eleven original songs. “I’m Ready” blends up-tempo gentle rockers (the buzzy title track, an expression of devotion and commitment, and the guitar-driven “Just What I Needed”) and slow-burning acoustic worship tracks (the stark arrangements of “Savior” highlighting Sporre’s emotive delivery). Among the latter, “Let Glory Unfold” is a standout, giving Sporre’s passion for words a chance to shine. Its lyrics mix his own devotion with the deep beauty of the Song of Solomon, a very effective track.
Other highlights include the moving alt-rocker, “Enter Me,” a fervent plea for the Lord’s presence. The dramatic “Three in One” contains some old-school rock changes that sizzle brightly as the song builds to a passionate crescendo of worship. “I’m Ready” will serve nicely as your own devotional tool, available on Steve Sporre’s website.
Thank you for reflecting the light and love of Jesus Christ and for bringing glory to God with your music and ministry!! "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. " Matthew 5:14-16
Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite. - Psalm 147:5
No means of measure can define God's limitless love. No barrier can hinder Him from pouring out His blessings. he forgives and He forgets. He creates and He cleanses. He restores and He rebuilds. He comforts and He carries. He lifts and He loves. He is the God of the second chance. -Anne Graham Lotz
