DanMingo came about when Steve Swindells played Culture Club drummer Jon Moss a track he had written and sung called Now Voyager. Jon kindly offered to play real drums on the track at Zeus B Held's studio in London NW2. The result was such a success that Jon suggested that they take it further and record a few tracks with a bass player and guitarist.
By some cosmic coincidence, Steve then received a call out of the blue from a childhood friend called John Waterhouse, whom he hadn't really heard from for twenty-odd years. John, it transpired, was running Christchurch Studios in Bristol, and producing various acts there. He invited steve to bring some musicians for three days and record some tunes. Jon Moss said yes immediately. So Steve asked Winston Blissett (whom he knew from his Groove jam session days) and Jerry Richards (whom he'd played with at the Hawkestra concert in 2000) if they'd like to join them. Brilliant musicians. The four bonded immediately and recorded three of Steve's songs in three days.
DanMingo was born.

Now here's our first, ever YouTube video. It's of 'More Noise', the opening song at our debut gig at The Cafe De Paris on 7.9.07. Winston was busy recording in NYC, so Alec from Dirth stepped-in at short notice to play bass! Many thanks to Karmen and Andre for their stirling camera work, Paul and Micky at The Cafe for the sound and the MCing and to Jerry Richards for the post-production. Enjoy! It's official! Hawklords are confirmed to headline an all-day 'implosion' at London's Roundhouse on Sunday, March 8th. Following the success of the now-legendary 'Hernia Bay' Robert Calvert memorial concert, ex-Hawkwind/lords Nik Turner, Jerry Richards, Terry Ollis, Martin Griffin, Alan Davey, Adrian Shaw, Harvey Bainbridge, Ron Tree and Steve Swindells will be performing with special guests, including Bridget Wishart , (more to be confirmed) and four dancers (The Bubblettes!!!!) choreographed by Angel Flame. It promises to be a spectacular event, and will also be a special tribute to the late Barney Bubbles, who had such massive creative imput with Hawkwind/lords (an excellent book about BB called 'Reasons To Be Cheerful' by Paul Gorman is now available in Paul Smith shops worldwide). The stage set will be based on his original designs for The Space Ritual, which were never actually used, so this will be a first. Think Pythagorus and the music of the spheres. Doors open at 3pm.
