On February 10th, 2008, Steve Taylor debuts his new album "Has the Size of the Road Got the Better of You?" at Cafe DuNord in San Francisco. A song cycle about being lost and found on the road of life, it was recorded over the last 3 and a half years, amidst an array of trials and tribulation. Playing with a passion and honesty that's lost on most contemporary artists, Steve merges the heart-on-your-sleeve confessional style of Joni Mitchell, the northern soul of Van Morrison, and the pop hooks of T-Rex, and filters them through a progrock lense, creating a soundscape that's both modern and unironically influenced by 70's AM rock. Playing nearly all of the instruments, including a palette of pre 1980 synths, electric pianos and organs, Steve also asked friends Marco Benevento and Joe Russo, aka the Benevento Russo Organ and Drums Duo from NYC, to take part. Work has recently begun on a new stripped down acoustic album which has an intended fall release.
Hope everyone can join us for this night at Cafe Du Nord:

Hi Steve! That was an incredibly fun time at the Utah on Friday night. Not to toot our Collective Horn or anything like that, but I think we both (The Greening and yourself) played our best shows yet! Love the new CSN-inspired jam, too. Anyway, accept my friend request on fb, ya rascal! And give a listen to our uploaded FIVE NEW SONGS!!! Rock.
Hi Steve! First off, congrats on the Rogue Wave gig - those guys are great, and Paul is the man. Second, I totally forgot to tell you that PK & I watched you play all guerilla style at SXSW. We had to get to a gig so couldn't stay to say hey, but we caught a song. Good on ya! I'll be in SF on the 21st - maybe we can meet up.

You might have heard of Bowie.
In the 60's he was Davey Jones, a potential British Invader who's name was robbed from him by a Monkey. Still, who can forget The Laughing Gnome?
In the 70's he was Major Tom, The Man Who Fell to Earth and Sold the World, Ziggy Stardust, The Diamond Dog, and The Thin White Duke...
In the 80's he rose from the Ashes, turned into a vampire, was promoted from Duke to King (of the goblins - talk about Scary Monsters!), fell into Modern Love with a China Girl, and we all took shelter Underground as The World Fell Down…
In the 90's he dawned a White Tie, took a step Outside, and became an Earthling.
This is our chance to celebrate EVERYTHING Bowie. All in one night.
It promises to be an event to remember! Come in costume, come to spectate, come to dance, but you'll regret it if you don't come.
Dance lessons for "Absolute Beginners" from 8:30-9:45 consist of two rotations and three instructors teaching Swing, Waltz and Blues dancing. In these lessons you'll learn the basics required to fully participate in the Ball to follow.
DJ sets by MzSamantha from Clockwork and The Box as well as special guests to be announced!
