Born in Mobile, Alabama.
Started guitar at age 10. Beatles-Ventures-Booker T were earliest influences
Travelled through psychedelia and honed in on the acoustic sound after the release of "Will the Circle be Unbroken".
After release from the Navy, I worked mainly solo with fingerpicking, early, early Jimmy Buffett, Jesse Winchester,Steve Goodman, John Prine, etc.
I started a band called Flatrock, which achieved some regional success on the Coast. - Similar sound and diversity to the Amazing Rhythm Aces. Our high point was opening for John Prine during his heyday.
Played with Lisa Zanghi, who has apparently done real well in Nashville as both a touring musician and as a stellar solo performer. We opened for Mac McAnally and Scott Boyer (of Cowboy fame)
I put music on the back burner for quite a few years while I worked on a profession.
I came back out and have played solo, duo, trio and band.
I recently sat in with the Alabama Gentlemen - a bluegrass band - at the Blakely Bluegrass festival - with 2 minutes rehearsal and a borrowed doghouse bass- and we won first place in the bluegrass band competition!
I finally have found the holy grail in Flatrock (that's right - same name).
Hot players with a passion for music - acoustic but white hot.
We call it "Ass Kickin' Acoustic Music"
Dropped in to listen to "On the Porch" thought I should say Hi while I was at it...so..umm..Hi...Read my latest rant if you get a chance, I am open for thoughts and suggestions... Ha
