Guitarist and singer Stevey Hay has been burning up venues since his early days in Edinburgh punk bands. Fluent in guitar styles from Surf to Jazz, Blues remains his first love. He has toured as harmonica legend Charlie Musselwhite's guitarist, and appeared with Robert Cray. While covering the modern Blues canon, with a special place for the work of inspiration Stevie Ray Vaughan, Steveys own songs come on with a humorous edge, combining understated honesty with wry asides to make their point always underpinned with the rhythmic strut and swagger that instantly picks this band out of the pack.
"A first rate blues-rock band" - Robert McNeil, The Scotsman, 31/03/06.
"One of the Gigs Of The Year" - Scots Blues News, Jan 2007. "No nonsense, inspired blues guitar magic" - Border Events, March 2007.
“Larger than life bluesman Stevey Hay rolled off the hits of his main influence, Texas guitar great Stevie Ray Vaughan, and gave the faithful a taste of his emotional guitar work...” - Falkirk Herald, 04/04/07.
“Rocking, good-time blues expertly delivered with soulful vocals, a swinging rhythm section, and a fistful of emotion-drenched guitar pyrotechnics. Good time guaranteed!” – thebestofedinburgh, 25/09/07.
Hi everybody, just here to say our new RORY GALLAGHER HAWK BOOSTER is ready for shipping. Have a listen if you get a chance, All the best, Stevie Flynn.
It's ted here. I just logged on for the first time in ages today and added you.
Thanks for that lesson a few weeks back. We should do something similar again- I can catch a bus all the way there and back so would save you having to use your motor at all.
Are you going to the voodoo rooms jam this month? I took your advice and talked Rod into giving my band a quick shot. I came up with a about a year ago for a band called 'Davey Reay and the Raybans' after a lecturer we had (who wore raybans) but it's awfully close to your name. Do you mind if I used it for my blues trio or I'm sure I could come up with something else if you think it will cause confusion.
Hi everybody, just here to say a big thanks for all your support. The new workshop is well and truly up and running and the custom cabs are now available to order. All the best, Stevie Flynn.
Best wishes from Devils Creek - Glad to have you as a friend here on myspace. The great thing about myspace is that you can link up with kindred spirits!.
"Here's something a bit different. These guys are heavily influenced by Rory Gallagher, Status Quo and early 70's British bluesy hard rock. They've got a great groove in the rhythm section, a fine guitarist in Guy Rosewall, and their album 'Bullfrog Blues' is recommended! The album includes a rockin' take on Rory's "Seven Days". Definitely not another SRV clone"
"The band is driven beautifully by Terry Brown on drums and Tim Chapple on bass, the latter laying down a stomping beat on every number.......... on the showing of this album I would strongly recommend them" (Ian McKenzie - Blues In The South).
