Just the one .... ME
Though a few friends have helped me out on a couple of tracks on the albums. Step up Nige Rivers, Damon Sawyer an' Wobbly Bob.
Influences
Steve Earle, Tom Waits, Bruce Springsteen, Richard Thompson, Johnny Cash, Phil Lynott an' a cast of thousands, 'cos as I wrote in a song on my first album an' if I was bein' philosophical then that was it. There are only three types of music: That what you like, that what you don't an' that what you ain't heard yet. Along with all that a damn good ale an' single malt whisky ....
Sounds Like
STEViE - One Bloke One Mandolin, tho you probably have your own thoughts on that one.
LATEST NEWS +++++ STEViE WILL BE PLAYING AT THIS YEAR'S BULLDOG BASH +++++ LATEST NEWS
The video below was shot during a short session around the campfire at a bike rally not far from Croydon, UK this weekend (22 -24 February '08). It was filmed by 'pyro' from motorsickle.com, and is a new song just finished, sort of, on the Thursday evenin' before with a few friends and clubmates listenin' on, having set up some of the party to come.
Go and have a look at motorsickle.com's website too, there's some good stuff on there. CHEERS !!
A cover of Steve Earle's Copperhead Road an' The Proclaimers' I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) filmed at the Celtic Warriors Birthday Bash a few years ago.
I was on inbetween Oliver/Dawson's Saxon an' The Quireboys, whilst they did the change over. Also appearin' on the same bill were Dumpy (of Dumpy's Rusty Nuts) an' Pat Savage .... both the latter are in 'my friends'
A few years ago now Stevie was fronting country band - Cactus Jack - touring through Germany. Wanting to play more bike rallies and wishing to work solo with the mandolin (with the addition sometimes of harmonica) Stevie started gigging out on his own whilst still with Cactus Jack, opening out his repetoire playing the songs of Steve Earle, Townes Van Zant, Richard Thompson, Fairport Convention, Jimmy LaFave, The Proclaimers, Small Faces, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, AC/DC, Alice Cooper !! and so much more.
These days he works solo and is still playing some of the favorites that have made him a well known fixture on the rally scene along with material from his solo albums ' .... a little further down the line', ' Too Poor For Trailer Trash ' and most recently 'RIDE' all of which are on sale at gigs and from here at £7.00 + £1 p&p. by emailing thesimpsonfamily@supanet.com
Stevie's music is gutsy, edgy and raw - a hardcore, barstool troubadour - with a voice as raw as cigarettes and single malt in a backstreet bar late on a Saturday night. Raised on the south coast of England, Stevie played in a couple of rock bands trying (and sometimes succeeding) to write original songs. Moving to Reading he joined metal band IronHeart and it was around this time he discovered, through local rock show presenter Brian Pithers (R.I.P - Rock In Perpetuity mate), the music of Steve Earle. After IronHeart he toured in the UK and France with hard rock band The Pack. Taking a break from music when The Pack split, Stevie eventually joined country band Kane & Co. remaining with them for four years, touring throughout the UK, Germany and Poland, playing on major country festivals in the UK, Spain, France, Poland, Denmark, and Holland, and releasing an album along the way, recorded in Nashville, called ' Raising Kane' . On leaving Kane & Co. he formed Cactus Jack and toured with them extensively throughout Germany for two years whilst releasing two albums, including the highly acclaimed '...ain't nothin' like PRESSURE' of which he wrote a majority of the material.
For a good few years now Stevie has been playing many motorcycle rallies and festivals all over the UK receiving some great reviews and picking up new fans at every gig.
2007 saw him, amongst many other gigs, playing/hosting bars at The Welsh International Motorcycle Show in Builth Wells and The National Association for Bikers with Disabilities (NABD) Rally at Astle Park in Cheshire along with a supporting slot on the bill with Status Quo at the Bulldog Bash. And looking at the gig list for 2008 he's going to be busy again.
Hey Stevie, wanted to thank you for the information. Yea Scott is a great songwriter, he is a talented artist and seems very passionate about his music. He has written a lot of amazing songs. I was checking out your music, it reminds me of when I was a little girl. My parents were very free spirited people and took us to lots of concerts. i grew up with a lot of music around me. Anyway your voice and style remind me of my own childhood. i like your tunes and enjoy listening to your lyrics. Cheers to you!

Thanks for the brilliant performance at the Farmyard on Saturday. I don't think I will ever get used to seeing a load of big scary blokes in tears when you sing 'Lest We Forget' but I'll be proud of you every time.

thanks for the greetings. As you can tell by the time it took me finally answer you - we´ve so busy with various projects, one of them beeing considering open up our own joint. Lot of work beforehand and still a decision to make, as you might guess. As for booking - yes, there was some woman, forgot the name since some many things come up all atthe same time, but I will get back in contact with her. She wanted some material (preferable video) which we still not really have, except for the bit we show on our website, which she can´t open (for whatever reason. Hope to talk to you soon(er) again.
yeah, that'd be great. it'd give me something to look forward to amidst the bleak midwinter. perhaps a bit of classical guitar/mandolin music-making will banish the anticipated winter depression !!!.
i think i'd like metallica a whole lot more if you were in the band !
I have to say I think your songs and sound are great, I had them playing at work yesterday afternoon... Just wish there was a CD out there that I could pick up play at home...
Many thanx for your most excellent set on Sat nite at AnySpare change rally. Hope you had a great weekend. You ar eback again next year by popular demand and also by Rick Hulse who finally enjoyed your set without interuption. See ya soon Creature
Hi Stevie its bad news the welsh rally is cancelled, thought the Bulldog was gonna go the same way. If you haven't got anything on the 31st of May why not come to the Ace cafe London, we have a welcome back party planned after our charity ride, with a few bands on, im sure Josh from JD and the Longfellows would love to see you there, i know we would.
THIS EVENT (23-26 MAY) CANCELLED. IT WAS TO BE HELD AT THE WELSH SHOWGROUND IN BUILTH WELLS.... UNFORTUNATLY BEING AT AN AGRICULTURAL SHOWGROUND. THE PIGS AN’ SHEEP FORMED AN ALLIANCE AND STEViE’s Blues an’ Country Bar AN’ MOST IMPORTANTLY THE WELSH INTERNATIONAL MOTOR CYCLE SHOW WILL NOW NOT BE TAKIN’ PLACE.
PLEASE GET YOUR PEN TO PAPERS AN’ WRITE, OR EMAIL YOUR MP, THE DYFED/POWYS POLICE AUTHORITY, AN’ THE Committee of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society. DO IT WITH POLITENESS - THEY BIN IT OTHERWISE. TELL THEM ALL HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT THIS OVER-ZEALOUS, RIDICULOUS INJUSTICE THAT REEKS OF ORWELL’S ’BIG BROTHER’. PLEASE DO IT NOW, OR DON’T COMPLAIN LATER. AS THE SONG SAYS ’YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’VE GOT ’TIL IT’S GONE’.
CHEERS FOLKS !!
.... an’ I’m sorry about the townsfolk of BUILTH WELLS for not gettin’ the massive trade influx this comin’ weekend that they would have, but I think they know the right people to blame for this injustice.
