"A song is lucky when Stevie Vallance sings it." ~ Ross Porter, Jazz.fm
A Jazz singer/song-writer and Emmy Award winning Voice Director Stevie Vallance is presenting a new collection of 'stories', in her 4th cd release, Make My Night. A collection of Jazz standards, as well as original tunes written by Stevie and other songwriters, such as Vancouver-based composer Jim Vallance, Make My Night is produced by Pat Coleman (guitar) and features many heavy hitters from the Canadian Jazz scene: Ross Taggart (piano), Mike Herriot (trumpet), Tom Colclough (sax), Buff Allen (drums) and Miles Hill (bass).
Stevie revels in the opportunity to marry her love of music with her penchant for doing character portrayals. A one-woman show, based on the life of Patsy Cline, led to a cd recording of the beloved country icon's standards, Always. Stevie followed up with a her critically acclaimed debut Jazz cd, Practically Naked, recorded with k.d. lang pianist Michael Creber who also md’d her 3rd cd, a live recording of one of Stevie’s sold-out Divas for Life concerts at the Vogue Theatre, Vancouver.
Whether vamping it up on Knots Landing, as recurring recording artist, ‘Sylvie’, or playing regular role ‘Det. Stevie Brody’, on Night Heat, Stevie epitomises that rare combination of experience, versatility and polish. As an Actor, it was Stevie's regular and starring roles in landmark television series like The Ropers, Zoobilee Zoo, Road to Avonlea and King of Kensington that honed her ability to craft 'fully realised' characters; a talent that the artist employs when reinterpreting Jazz standards in her own inimitable way. Each song becomes a 'story'.
As a three-time Emmy nominee and one-time Emmy Award winner (Madeline), Stevie continues to excel in the animation field. As a Voice Actor, Stevie thrills kids around the world with regular roles on cartoons like Care Bear movies, Reboot, Inuyasha and Bakugan, while currently serving as Voice Director on Teletoon's hit show Best Ed as well as voice-producing 2007 Emmy Nominee Growing Up Creepie.
