Stewart started at a party in Bushwick when front lady and lyricist Andrea Tarka was hit on by the soon to be lead guitarist John White. The two went on to play the historic punk rock haunts of CBGB's and The Continental, followed by scores of other now closed NYC clubs including Sin-e and the Luna Lounge. Their latest self-made, self-titled full-length contains 17 auto-biographical, retro-rock tunes, reminiscent of Green Day and Paramore.
Stewart is melodic, pop-inspired punk rock with lyrics which are at once playfully fun and deeply relevant. Andrea's award winning vocal stylings and melodies connect the audience with her vision of what is and what should be. Trying to fit into a world that isn't what you'd want or expect, embracing the rage and despondency that that makes you feel, facing those feelings to make the best of what you have and letting go to be yourself. Basically that it's okay to have fun, even when you're pissed off.
Stewart is excited about their new single "Dance With Me," a theme song inspired by illustrator Jacob Chabot's comic "The Mighty Skullboy Army."
