Stew Magnuson's Blurbs |
About me:
I'm native of Omaha, Nebraska, and now a Washington, D.C.-based journalist and the author of The Death of Raymond Yellow Thunder: And Other True Stories from the Nebraska-Pine Ridge Border Towns.
I'm a former foreign correspondent who has filed stories from Japan, Cambodia, Burma, Laos, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, Mali and Indonesia. I worked as a reporter for The Cambodia Daily, the Asahi Shimbun, Kyodo News Service, Space News, Education Daily, and am now managing editor of National Defense Magazine.
I have contributed articles to the Christian Science Monitor, Reuters, Defense News, and numerous other publications.
I have traveled or lived in 45 countries, including the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, where I served in the Peace Corps, and Peshawar, Pakistan, where I worked with the Afghan resistance in the late 1980s.
I recently fulfilled a long-time goal of visiting 100 professional baseball parks. On to 200!
I've also been to 49 states. (the last one is Michigan). I'm really into making lists as you can see.
I graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1987 with a degree in English. I attended the university’s School of Journalism and worked for several years at the student newspaper, The Daily Nebraskan.
