Sounds Like
Would say Norman Wisdom "on acid", only the reality of that would probably sound nothing like
Stickpin are a band who play music. They play music in music venues. They also sometimes play it into microphones or signal processors and store it digitally so that people can listen to it when they are not around.
Stickpin's first steps as a full band has seen them played on Xfm, who chose them as a featured artist, and various local stations.
Inspiral Carpets' Clint Boon said 'What I really liked about Stickpin's record, {apart from it being refreshing and well-written}, was that it reminded me a little of R.E.M. {when they used to be good}' (on XFM Manchester...brackets mine).
Live: 'Clever stuff. Punk-as-fuck without reverting to vowel-screams and safety pins'- thisisull

Described as: 'like Soulfly if Trent Reznor were part of the band,' their debut album "There's No Profit in Truth", mixes the pent up frustration of acts such as Rage Against The Machine with the raging, highly charged riffs of classic Machine Head. Good, honest, politically aware and highly charged Metal at its best...

Yo there Stickpin... Yeah I remember that "ghostgirl" character who kept quoting: STICKPIN ! STICKIN ! VOTE STICKPIN !... and you had to warn her about using Stickpin's comment box!... I hope you all got over that unexpected cheek?... Ha Ha.. See you around - Regards, Tim.

Damo Suzuki is a legend! Best known for his stint as the legendary Krautrock pioneers Can as their singer in the 70s, Damo now tours the world to hook up with the best of local musicians to produce stunning sets of improvised music. We cannot stress how good this will be enough - you’ve never experienced anything like a Damo Suzuki show before, even if you’ve been to a Damo Suzuki show before! This extra special show will see Damo backed by the collective brilliance that is Quack Quack and Napoleon IIIrd.
Quack Quack simply the best live band Forest of Sound have ever seen - so much energy, so much musical invention, so much skill... well, it's almost obscene.
One man empassioned alt-pop legend with his reel-to-reel tape player, Napoleon IIIrd is a man of skewed melodies, bouncing beats and a big bucket of inventiveness... and is simply ace.
Charlie Parr is from the same Duluth music scene that spawned the likes of Low and Haley Bonar, and his music delves deep into the back roads of American folk music, there’s hints of Robert Johnson, Nick Drake and Will Oldham in his playing, and a true from the heart power and clarity that is simply stunning. This guy is the real thing, and you can hear it in every note he plays, which would also explain why the people at the superb End of the Road festival ask him back every single year!
Neil McSweeney plays beautifully considered and perfectly restrained music that will delight fans of Low, Adrian Crowley, Nina Nastasia, Mark Kozelek, and Jason Molina.
Deftly fingerpicked folk loveliness from a local favourite - Michael Rossiter perfectly executes traditional folk as well as his own material, sings from his heart and gets the perfect sound from his guitar.
Happy New Year Stickpin - I hope you get stuff sorted soon, you guys played one of my fave gigs of 08, your stuff's very different from what the majority of bands are doing atm, and I think some of the songs are downright classics - REEEEEBOUND! Jamx x
