-Stigma was formed 1999 by Stig Rune Robertsen basically as a one off project and released a self titled album before Endre Hindhammer joined the band.
They went to school together and played together in THE AUN BAND in 1991 and ATTITUDE in 1995, which later became the legendary band PARANOIA.
In the summer of 2000 the album "SOLITUDE" was released, a milestone in rock history.
-In 2001 they re-located to Trondheim where they started as a band with Ola Nordal on guitars and Eirik Myhr on drums. Myhr was soon replaced by Gunulf Vaule Staurheim.
Unfortuenetly the band split up before recording anything.
Due to personal reasons the band chose to take a break.
In 2004 Stig and Endre finally established the band again with Marius Skaugen on drums and Erling Solbu on guitar.
They released the EP "LOSSES"
-Erling Solbu was later replaced by Ole-Andreas Hammer. This was rather unfortunate, as the band was getting fed up with rehearsing old material over and over again. In the spring of 2005 Marius and Hammer focused on their other bands Bulwark and Beg For Fire.
Stigma released a live album in January, 2005 titled "LIVE IN SOLITUDE".
It was recorded july, 2000 in Heggem.
The recordings from the legenday consert were lost for many years, but out of nowhere they showed up. Needless to say the livealbum was ment to be released.
Stig and Endre then started writing new material for the album "THE FAILURE OF ME." It was recorded from june to December and was released December 24th, 2005. Suffering from horrible sound quality the album did not get the credit it deserves, but the songs are still superb..
The latest chapter in STIGMA history will also be the longest so far. They started working on this album in 2006, and it's been a long and educational process. Soundwise Stigma have never been close to this.
"Solitude 24/7" is by the band seen as the follow up to their first record Solitude. That first record had its distinctiveness lyrical- and mood-vise, and this new release tries to recapture this mood and “close the chapter” from the church-organ driven early days of the band. The album is also kind of a concept album, dealing with a week in the life of a working class bachelor with its ups and deep downs. The new record is produced by Stigma, and mastered by Knut Prytz of Magica Mastering (Keep of Kalessin, Manifest, Max Midsun, Bloodthorn). "SOLITUDE 24/7" will be in vinyl format only, with a free CD version of the record to go with the vinyl.
