Chanter...still chantin...the vibes the people wantin
Born 1961, the sixth child of the Anderson family in Sheffield, as a youth Chanter moved to the east end of London with his four brothers and three sisters. His early days at school saw his first involvement with home built sound systems, a popular activity amongst youth during this time. Following in the footsteps of his older bother Karl who was a DJ on Jah Youth Sound System, his early experiences in the dancehall gave him experience and the drive to pursue his DJ’ing skills. By the early 80’s he had established himself as the resident DJ on his namesake sound system “Chanter” until 1987.

Keeping with the Rastafarian tradition Chanter has been keeping up the pressure until this time with his soulful lyrics defending truth and rights working with various artists, studios and sound systems. In recent years Chanter has released music with Studio 55 (Black History 7") and Irie Hi-fi (Terror Terror 7"). Look out for forthcoming releases from Roots Commandments, King Shiloh, Robin Hood and Low Key.
He has travelled extensively throughout Europe with King Original sound system demonstrating not only his talent, but his commitment and perseverance. The veteran artist is known for his original dj style and works closely with some of Europe's top sounds such as Roots Commandments (Hamburg, Germany), I-Livity (Hamburg, Germany), King Shiloh, (Amsterdam, Holland), King Fari (Paris, France) and Rebel Lion (Norwich, England)to name but a few.
Chanter also performs live on stage with the FRESH band and others
