Influences
Everybody! From Hank Williams to Led Zeppelin. From Patsy Cline to Sheryl Crow & everyone else in between! America, CCR, John Denver, Mark Knopfler, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Buck White & the Down Home Folks, Railroad Earth, The Beatles, & many more.
Sounds Like
Nothing else you've heard before! But if we had to make a list... Blue Highway, Buck White & the Down Home Folks, John Denver, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Hank Williams Sr., Railroad Earth, Blue Highway, The Three Pickers, Jerry Douglass, Kingston Trio & the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
In the fall of 2003, an eclectic bunch of musicians came together to form the Still River Band. Each member contributes his and her own musical background to create a unique style of bluegrass, country, folk and Americana music. Steve Yeager and Rick Rizzi, who have been playing rock n roll for over 30 years, bring an undeniable edge to Still River. Steve Belton, with a voice and lyrics that echo the late John Denver, adds a softer, more rustic sound. The Pfeiffer twins, Carrie and Lindsay, who were only nineteen at the time, prove that just because they are young does not necessarily mean they are novices. Classically trained on the violin, Carrie quickly learned how to fiddle like the pros. And Lindsay has a voice that compliments beautifully Still River's illustrious four-part harmonies. Completing Still River are Scott Fischer and Mike Geacone who share the role of playing the upright bass. Although already an extraordinary musician, Mike currently studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Together, Still River brings an indisputable energy to every one of their live stage performances that is felt by all! *****
The Still River Band disbanded in May of 2007 and re-formed with three new members. Steve Belton, Mike Geacone, and the Pfeiffer twins decided to pursue other projects. They are extremely talented and will be greatly missed. The new mambers are:
Maura Glynn Congdin: Guitar, Mandolin & Vocals,
Erin Palma: Guitar & Vocals,
Scott Fischer: Upright Bass.
The Still River Band practices in Budd Lake, New Jersey in Maura's barn with horses and hay as an audience and sounding board. They seem to like it.
Although Still River has only been together for a few short years, they have played at some of bluegrass and countrys greatest venues: Musikfest in Bethlehem, PA, Knowlton Riverfest in Delaware, NJ, and Albert Music Hall - NJs Premier Opryland located in Waretown, NJ, just east of the Pinelands. Other shows include: Washington, NJs Business Improvement District's "Festival In The Borough;" the Stanhope House in Stanhope, NJ; Shippen Manor in Oxford, NJ; the Thirsty Mallard in Waretown; The Embury Church in Little Silver, NJ; a feature on the Bluegrass Horizon Show; TV and radio appearances on WNTI 91.9, WDVR "Heartlands Hayride" 89.7, WXLV 90.3, Homegrown Radio NJ, and Guitar Up-Front, which aired courtesy of Patriot Media; and many others.
