In 2001 Belgian singer-songwriter, Jean Philippe Risse moved to Glasgow in Scotland. The placement of an advert in a music store led to him meeting Rodger Hughes, and inspired by their love of music, they started writing songs together. They approached Gary McMillan and Daniel McGuire and formed Solarise.
In 2003 the band released their debut EP ‘Songs for the Devil’ It immediately caught the attention of the Scottish media, inspiring one radio presenter to proclaim Solarise as “One of the most exciting & innovative bands of the year!”
They soon attained much international interest with increasing airplay throughout Europe, and were soon approached to perform at a range of festivals and music venues throughout Belgium, and The Netherlands.
Through extensive live performances, Solarise quickly earned themselves a reputation as one of the most interesting and exciting live bands in Scotland, combining their eclectic blend of electro-rock music with stunning visual images.
In autumn 2004, the band started recording their debut album ‘Still The Same Dream’ Preview tracks were quickly released and impressed BBC Radio 1 presenter Jo Whiley so much, she included the band in a weeklong Best of new British feature on her show. The album was recorded in Scotland, with the final mixing being undertaken by Producer Rudy Coclet at Sunrise Studios in Belgium during the summer of 2006.
Solarise began showcasing tracks from ‘Still The Same Dream’ in the autumn of 2006, with live performances around some of Scotland’s established cultural Music & Arts venues. The band then returned to Belgium to prepare for another series of live performances throughout The Benelux Region.
2007 seen the European release of ‘Still the Same Dream’ through the Dutch Label ‘Alien Do God’, and distributed via ‘Konkurrent’ The band launched the album in Amsterdam at the prestigious ‘London Calling’ music festival playing alongside Kate Nash, The Enemy, The Pigeon Detectives and The Wombats.
The band have taken a break from playing live to concentrate on recording new material in the studio.

Haha well I can remember this thing.. last year at London Calling when Bromheads Jacket was kinda drunk.. Hampton jumped of the podium but nobody could hold him.. Result, Hampton fel on the ground, came back on stage with a bleeding head and a big smile.. At the end of the concert he broke his guitar.. It was an amazing show anyway!.. And I guess you're not in Amsterdam much?.. just make a great evening out of it :D
