Stingray Records, in cooperation with Zojak World Wide, the leader in digital distribution, announces the release of a pair of stellar compilation albums featuring strong roots and culture music and messages. Stingray: Collection Volume 13 and Stingray: Showcase combine reggae music’s best vocalists, from the foundation period through to the present, singing powerful messages of consciousness over a variety of roots, roots rock reggae and lovers riddims. Boasting the finest musicians from Jamaica and the United Kingdom, Stingray is proud to bring forward Marcia Griffiths, Mykal Rose, Luciano, Morgan Heritage from Jamaica as well as UK reggae stars Prince Malachi and Peter Huningale and many, many more. Including riddims and songs that have previously only been available on 7” or CD.
Stingray Collection Volume 13 is the latest in Stingray’s amazing series of serious roots selections. Featuring musicians like Mafia & Fluxy, Ruff Cut, Millenium Band, Sly & Robbie and Gumption Band, Stingray puts a high premium on good music in this collection. The legendary and timeless Marcia Griffiths opens the album with a beautiful song appealing to heads of government and world leaders to do what they can to fix the “Cold World” we live in. George Nooks maintains the vibes over the same riddim on “Consider Yourself Lucky”. Reggae fans will consider themselves lucky to have artists Da’Ville (“Firm Meditation”), Luciano & Errol Bonnick (“Crusader For Life”), crooner Roger Robin (“No Retreat”) and Bushman (“Bloody City”) on the same album. Not to mention that roots and culture fans will be heartened by the appearance of Morgan Heritage whose Stingray produced track, “Go Down Falling Angel”, will be available digitally for the first time here on Stingray Collection Volume 13. The love is not all lost however as Glen Washington wonderfully demonstrates on “Unconditional Love”, Prince Malachi’s “Show Love”, “Nite Shift Lady” by Frankie Paul and Anthony Que’s “Truly Bowled Over”. Anthony B & Lukie D’s “Hustling” and Sylvia Tella’s “A Change Is Here” complete the collection with messages of reality. With lover’s, roots and kulcha as well as conscious deejays on the reality tip, Stingray Collection Volume 13 is a bright ray of sunshine for reggae and music fans just in time for summer!
Stingray Showcase Volume 1 makes select tracks off of three crucial one drop riddims - Play Play Riddim, Intimate Riddim and A Little Bit More Riddim – which had been available only on 7” will finally be released world wide on Itunes and other fine e-tailers May 5th. The Play Play Riddim gets things started with Lukie D, Errol Bonnick, Natural Black, George Nooks, Prince Malachi and Anthony Que grooving over the easy going beat which brings out the very best in the artists. From Lukie D’s moving “Since You Been Gone” to Natural Black’s inspirational hit, “Rise”, the Play Play riddim doesn’t play around. Morgan Heritage opens the Intimate Riddim set with their classic lover’s anthem in which it is clear that love is “Meant To Be”. The strength of the Intimate Riddim is found in its depth of talent including Freddie McGregor (“Love I Believe In”), Mykal Rose (“Breaking Up”) and Mikey Spice (“Let Me Down Easy”). Tony Curtis’s “Where Did Love Go” and “Sign Your Name” from Lukie D provide even more intimate insight into the game of love. Stingray Showcase Volume 1 returns to the roots and culture with the A Little Bit More Riddim. Luciano (“Time & Age”), Mykal Rose (“Give I Strength”), and Prince Malachi (“Judgement Hour”) give the steady roots riddim an immediate vocal and spiritual strength while George Nooks is on point with the title track, “A Little Bit More”. Gappy Ranks comes forward with a genuine and original vibe on “Faith” and “Time A Run Out” by Lukie D makes a strong statement about setting an example for youths. Alternating between Intimate, Play Play and A Little Bit More, Stingray Showcase Volume 1 touches on everything that has made reggae an influence around the world—a combination of spirituality, intimacy and consciousness.
Stingray, a UK based Reggae recording studio and label that emerged as one of the leaders in the music field since it was founded in 1994 by the McLeod brother's. Based in the West London suburb of Perivale, Stingray own a fully equipped and advanced 24-track professional recording studio.
Carlton "Dillie" McLeod and his younger brother Raymond "Sting" McLeod have steadily built a reputation for producing unique "Yard Style" mixing technique outside Jamaica.
In the past Stingray had worked and produced some of the best UK finest performers such as Peter Hunningale, Sylvia Tella, Lloyd Brown and many more. On the other side of the globe Stingray have also worked and produced high profile artist from Jamaica such as Dennis Brown, Luciano, Freddie McGregor, Bushman, Morgan Heritage, Mykal Rose, Sanchez, Tony Curtis, Lukie D and many more names to mention.
Dillie, as an ex soundman (Lord Koos, Savannah, Love Injection and Intimate Connection) and a radio DJ (Time Radio, WLR, Skyline) as well as a drummer with the I-lects band, Dillie contributed to the recent success of Saxon Records, where he worked closely with the renowned Saxon selector "Musclehead" to record gems like Peter Hunningale's Genuine album etc etc. Under Stingray label, the production with Don Campbell (I-lects guitarist & lead singer) Never Burn Your Bridges, was the first LP released and Luciano's album Visions stands out as one of Dillie's finest engineered production.
The characteristic sound on Stingray's production is fairly traditional and filled with classic 70s Reggae feel, but built with all the advantages of modern studio technology. Besides the production and engineering talents of Dillie, Stingray use musicians of the finest calibre such as Mafia & Fluxy, Sly & Robbie, Computer Paul, Firehouse Crew, Gumption Band, Jazzwad, Carlton Bubblers Ogilvie (another former member of the I-lects band), Ernie Wilks, Daltone Browne, Dean Fraser and Tan Tan, with the mixing expertise from Dillie which provides the very important finishing touch.
Reggae experts often ignore tunes made outside Jamaica, but there's no excuse for overlooking the consistently and breath taking production style of Stingray unless it's the criminal underexposure it received on the radio.
Dillie recalls at an early age he was into music, from the days when the Blue Spot gram used to run tings. His mother used to have difficulty keeping him away from her records and she always knew that he would end up working within the music industry, to encourage him with his ambition and passion she made an investment into his future career by buying Dillie a drum kit at the age of 15. While still at school Dillie and his friends formed a group called the I-lects along with Don Campbell, Carlton "Bubblers" Ogilvie and Kenneth Mckenzie
Stingray continues to aim higher and higher by venturing into new horizons......

This tune will make you get up and go and move you forword to a positive state of mind. www.myspace.com/houseofriddim Jamie, here's my HONEST opinion & comments.... "Words can be so simple...Actions..." YES, but MUSIC also speaks louder than words....& thats EXACTLY what this tune does. From the intro chants of "LION....LION!", you get the feeling of positivity & strength from the word GO! The bubbling riddim track is met with uplifting vocal vibes from Mr Irie. A tune aimed at those who talk 'round di ting' & don't seem to put talk into motion, this song hits the spot. A vibesy tune to fill the air with as much punc
