Writing music for themselves, and letting their influences guide, rather than control them, SMS has continued to evolve and thrive. Starving their fans for a record release, they have packed every venue, every night, with a loyal and growing following that are in need of their fix.
Drawing their influences from Classic Rock, Metal, Alternative, Punk and the Underground, Sewn Mouth Secret created something new, while still remaining relevant in today's ever-changing music scene. The music is a show of respect to the many greats that have helped influence and shape their musical minds, but the sound is all their own. They maintain a "less is more" attitude, and stick with substance rather than flash. Relying on groove and melody to set the mood, their high energy performances have left their crowds exhausted, and always demanding more. Possessing a real "Staying Power" as some have described SMS and their music, they are not a fly-by-night act, crossing genres and decades of music, Sewn Mouth Secret is here to stay. With over four albums worth of unreleased material, and more on the way, there is little doubt regarding the creativity of the foursome.
Blending music from all genres and refusing to be categorized, SMS has established itself as a premiere all original music act in Michigan and the Mid-West. Assaulting the scene in Detroit and winning over fans of the mainstream, they have risen above the mediocrity to show that Detroit can still be a viable resource for the music industry.
Formerly known in the Detroit area as STITCH, their former members include Sean O'hehir (Drums), and Vinnie Hitsman (VOX).
