........................................Stjarna’s recent recordings are an attempt to be heard, an attempt for 2 people to come together and try and create the most beautiful, heartfelt and individual music they could make. Talk Talk’s classic ‘Sprit of Eden’, My Bloody Valentine’s ‘Loveless’ and the more recent Sigur Ros ‘Untitled’ album are all main influences and the beauty of these records are put across in Alex’s voice and the complexity and simplicity of the music that surrounds him makes Stjarna stand out from any music that is around.
‘Sister Soul’ taken from their recent work is a perfect example of what they stand for. In this song in particular, they attempt to get closer and closer to what they want to create with loud guitars, subtle electronica and swirling vocals but also the simplicity of their music is what draws you in. The longer the song goes on and on reaching its crescendo, the listener is bought back down to earth to show how simple and beautiful music can be.
