As their profile ascends, this quintuplet of unassuming musicians are proving themselves to be an authentic Australian talent.
The group now boast enough accolades to fill at least an A4 page, with no double spacing.
A homicidally inspired poet of a front man. A classically trained pianist, who is sporadically seen drumming onstage. A sharp-suited trumpeter. A drummer with sticks.
And a bass player with a helicopter licence.
Clearly their music has not gone unnoticed.

The Stoics have played alongside The Cat Empire, The New Pornographers, The Getaway Plan, Cut Copy, and many other great bands.
After having their pretty faces on jtv, the station also took a liking to their music.
..There are echoes of The Decemberists in the lyrics, which feature those two favourite storytelling subjects found everywhere, from Homer to Home and Away: sex and violence... Vijay Khurana, Triple J.
In 2007 the band won Triple J's Unearthed AWOL competition, securing a coveted spot as a Triple J Next Crop artist: a selection of the nation's most promising unsigned artists.
Their 2008 EP release ‘Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing’ had critics agreeing that this shiny bright new band’s catchy sounds, stunning harmonies, and anthemic hooks will not be ignored.

The Stoics capped off the busy success of 2008 with their performance at the Falls Festival. Their appetite for live performance will continue to be satiated at festivals, pubs, clubs, and theatres well into the future. An assured record release means that The Stoics fortunately still won’t have time for real jobs in 2009.
