Sounds Like
what SHOULD be on the radio, not what IS on the radio nowadays
Chemistry. What is it? We can see how Webster's defines the word, but where can we look for a true example of it? The guys in STONE BLACK know all about chemistry. Four different musicians coming from very different backgrounds, all with very different musical influences, is a great example of true chemistry in its purest form. Building on the foundation of the hard driving drum beats from modern day alternative rock, the band starts buidling a musical "house" where everybody feels at home. The bass lines have a sometimes Motown, sometimes rock, sometimes funk groove, while the guitar is the cornerstone, anchored heavily in classic rock and roll. With the lead riffs adding the familiar country "twang" on some songs, and the grunge sound of alt. rock on others, this is one band that shows they have no musical limits. Songs on the bands debut CD range from the classic country sounds to more modern, hard edged, rock stylings. At live shows, the band finds the perfect mix between originality and familiarity, covering all the standards that you have come to expect while still performing original material letting you know that they are much more than just another cover band. Even the material they choose to cover has been taken apart and put back together again so it will have the bands unique "stamp", which is, after all, what being an artist is all about. This is one band that has found their sound, and share in the same musical vision that fuels their creative process. With a very relaxed atmosphere around them, a night with STONE BLACK is an experience that should not be passed up. Featuring the classic standards that we all like to hear, and the oppurtunity to experience new and original music, this is one science experiment that has gone right.
