The
Stone Crazy Blues Band, a high intensity Northwest based blues trio, was
formed in early 2004 by guitarist Chris Morda,
bassist Forrest Giberson, and drummer
Lorne Watson with the vision of infusing
some new energy into the Northwest blues scene. The band's members all
have diverse backgrounds, Chris has an Ethnomusicology Degree, Forrest
has bachelor of music degree in Studio Music and Jazz with specialization
in performance, music theory, music history and composition, and Lorne
graduated with a Bachelors of Music Education and Percussion Performance.
All three are currently private, as well as group, music instructors
and have a wide range of performance experience. While the band members
can sit around and talk about music all night they don't overlook the
fact the blues is a feelin' best felt and played.
The band's material consists of classic , modern, as well as original
blues. 50's and 60's tunes such as Jimmy Reed's Baby, What You
Want Me To Do, and Magice Sam's I Just Want A Little Bit, lap
slide reworkings of blues classics dating back to the 1930's such
as Willie Dixons, Little Red Rooster, and Blind Willie Johnsons Motherless Children and funk based
blues originals in tribute of Albert Collins, ala the original The
Freeze; are all regulars in the bands's repotoire. The band showcases
its' diversity in originals inluenced by East Indian Music, Introspect
and the study of Just Intonation and the Overtone Series
in Workin Blues.

We are returning again to the fabulous Conor Byrne Pub in wonderful Ballard Washington. This time with our friends Mama Tried (the super entertaining all Merle Haggard tribute/worshiping band) and the one-man show of Rob Femur (otherwise known as The Femurs) opening. If you don’t make this show, well you better be In Jail, The Hospital or Dead, because those are the only excuse you will have that work (and In Jail better be a really good one too!) See you there!
We are Headlining this show and we will have special guests sitting in, and it will be worth it to stay up late to see us play.
