Stone dogs are a four piece dirty rock'n'roll band hailing from the shires of Leicester. Our influences other than cheap bottles of cider include rock, blues, grunge, funk and hip-hop and anything else with a good groove. For the past year we have been gigging as extensively as we can anywhere with stage! "Next up were rock four-piece Stone Dogs. Dirty, blues-heavy rock n roll, they sound like a cross between Pearl Jam and a darker, heavier Gomez, yet bring in enough of their own ideas to ensure it all sounds fresh and very much their own. Heavy riffs, winding solos and dark basslines create a brooding yet energetic atmosphere that went down well with The Rainbow crowd. It’s an interesting direction that’s anything but mainstream and it should prove interesting to see how these guys progress as a band".

Stone Dogs - 29/05/08
"Stone dogs in this last year have really grown and brought themselves together. After seeing quite a few of their gigs I was unsure of what to expect since I hadn't seen them for a while. I can safely say that last night this band really did deliver. We had some amazing covers of 'Breathe' By the Prodigy and 'Alive' by Pearl Jam a well known favourite band of Stone dog’s front man Dan (Shenton). They really pulled off a great performance of both of these songs and made them into their own sound.
This band have really brought themselves together and seem a lot more confident and are able to provide a more enjoyable set and performance with this, there is a lot of talent within this band, with Lead guitarists Tom’s skills on the guitar and Dan’s perfect grunge style vocals it really gives it that rough grunge feel we all know. You can also see improvement from Jon (drums) and Martin (Bass) they really seemed to have all come together as a band and made their work a lot tighter.
After the grunge 90's decade years, it isn't really a genre of music you see in Leicester played by small bands anymore. It's great to see a grunge band, and one that can also pull it off and make a dance song into some amazing sounding grunge tune!
This band has some amazing talent, I can honestly say I was extremely impressed by their performance and would recommend them to everyone to go and check out sometime soon!".

"First up were Stone Dogs, the established Leicestershire based hard rock / grunge band, who had their name before the remaining members of The Darkness hillariously decided to change their name to the Stone Gods, I'd like to add. No strangers to Ragebreed events, the band put on their usual display of an energetic live perfomance, leaving some of their softer songs on the back burner to keep the heavy-minded audience happy. Vocalist (and guitarist on some tracks) Dan Shenton makes a brilliant frontman, getting the attention of the crowd without even asking or encouraging it, and being backed by three muscians that all seem to have slightly different influences makes this local band unique and interesting. Despite a slight technical hitch where Bitch bassist Frogs had to step in and lend his bass guitar, the band opened Hades' Gate with more fire than Hades himself! And with the help of Mindlapse vocalist Karina Sher on a brilliant cover version of "Man In A Box", the band added something extra special to their set.
