Founded in 2007, Stonefox is an independent four-piece blues
and rock band touring in support of its debut 12-track album Dead in the Sun.
Front man Jordan Asher and guitarist Dave Barnard co-write the bluesy, dirty
rock songs that Stonefox has performed on stages all over eastern half of the
U.S., and hammered home to audiences at every dark bar and well-lighted stage
in its home region of South Florida. Drummer Jeff Rose and bass player Ross Fuentes
contribute musically to the songs and recordings that appear on their first album Dead in the Sun. The self-produced album, recorded in 2008 on two microphones, radiates
the rage of feeling stuck in a place – be it a bad relationship or a state like
Florida – where you don’t want to be, and the bouncing guitars and
reverberating vocals float with an appealing cynicism, a truly sharp edge, that
characterizes many of the region’s intelligent, ambitious rock bands battling
to give voice to a distinctive South Florida sound that drowns out the region’s
insistence on the monotonous, vapid sound of Top 40. Stonefox claims influences
all over the blues genre, from the Delta Blues of Robert Johnson to the early
rock ‘n’ roll blues of Chuck Berry and the early rock sounds of The Doors,
Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones. Effortlessly stylish and a bit precocious,
Stonefox is making a hell of a lot of bluesy noise and backing it up with tours
and an attitude that walks the line between irreverent rock ‘n’ roll and
downright professional.
