STONE PARADE'S inspiring blend of melody driven rock and compelling lyrics reveals a band with a sincere interest in the world around them.
“In one word, promising... It is one of those things you hope for. The vocals of lead singer Greg Byrne are emotional. His heart is worn on his sleeve and raw emotion drips from every lyric” - The Dwarf Magazine
Formed in Sydney’s Northern Beaches in 2003 STONE PARADE’s inspiring blend of melodic driven rock along with their compelling lyrics reveals a band with a sincere interest in the world around them. Coupled with an energetic and explosive live performance, their sound is reminicant of pioneers The Who and U2 along with likes of modern day artists Foo Fighters and Coldplay.
Having secured opening slots around the country on tours with major artists such as Maroon 5, Hoobastank and 3 Doors Down and crowned as the winners of Coca Cola Live n Local (2005), Stone Parade know how to deliver a cranking live show.
In 2006 the band made three successful trips to Los Angeles where they recorded their initial demos at Interscope Records and performed a sold out show at the famous Viper Room. Returning home last year they knuckled down at ’The Factory’, the Fouché Brother’s home studio, to record their career defining debut album ‘Chase The Setting Sun’ which will see release later this year. The album was mixed in Los Angeles by Will Sandalls (Interscope) and mastered in New York at Sterling Sound by Leon Zervos (Maroon 5, Avril Lavigne, Aerosmith).
In late 2007 the band scored first prize of the publicly voted ‘Nokia Be Heard’ competition for their track ‘Somebody Will Miss You’, garnering them a useful $10,000 cash injection.
In April this year STONE PARADE was announced winners of the ‘Rock’ category in the prestigious ‘International Songwriting Competition’. The band’s song ‘Somebody Will Miss You’ was chosen out of 15,000 entries world-wide which were judged by industry luminaries such as Tom Waits, Julian Casablancas (the Strokes) & Nelly Furtado.
The band performed live on channel Nine’s NRL Footy Show (25 Sept 08) & Mornings with Kerri- Anne (24 June 08 & 9 Oct 08)
STONE PARADE introduced themselves to the Australian market by way of their debut single ‘My Generation’ which in May this year debuted in the top 20 of the national ARIA singles chart and number 1 on the AIR charts.
Released independently through MGM on August 16, the band’s debut album ‘Chase The Setting Sun’ showcases their worldly maturity and ability to capture the listeners every emotion. STONE PARADE’s aforementioned award winning track ‘Somebody Will Miss You’ (also available on August 16) is destined to be a smash hit with it’s emotive lyrics, exceptional vocal delivery and rock laden guitar hooks building the track to a crescendo to deliver an ‘A’ class rock ballad.
Of their debut album, lead singer Greg Byrne said, “We’re all really interested to see how the story of ‘Chase The Setting Sun’ unfolds. Quietly we’re all very proud; it’s an album we’ve always wanted to create. Personally for me I’ve never done anything in my life I’ve been so proud of. Every emotion has been encapsulated in this new record...anger, sadness, regret...this record sums up everything I’ve gone through over the past few years.”
Stay tuned to www.stoneparade.com for the announcement of extensive touring and special performances in support of the release of ‘Chase The Setting Sun’ and ‘Somebody Will Miss You’ both released independently through MGM on August 16, 2008.
With a rock-solid, sensible, and passionate work ethic STONE PARADE are destined for big things this summer!
