Stone River is loud, Southern/Classic Rock with a sense of passion, love, innocence - and above all honesty. George Marino (ACDC, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith), during the mastering of their new album, quoted saying their music is; “The Southern Rock of the North." Rob Lamothe (Riverdogs) writes; “Imagine Chris Cornell singing in the Black Crowes."
The band, together for almost 5 years, has played over 100 shows across Ontario. During the past 3 years they have gained fans from all ages and backgrounds along the way. In 2005 these ambitious rockers, in their early 20’s, hired producer Tom Treumuth (Big Sugar, Honeymoon Suite, Helix) to produce their first full-length album. The album taking almost 2 years to complete, reflects the bands care and dedication to detail when it comes to their music. In the last year, Stone River has played in direct support of major acts like The Black Crowes and Jeff Martin. With the rising success of their debut LP, The Valley Of The Butterflies, Stone River is ready for a European release in October 2009.
Stone River chose their name to reflect the way in which they believe their music should be as hard as the Rock’n stylings of their forefathers, while retaining its organic roots as gentle and flowing like a river. The bands aim is ultimately the revival of Rock n Roll for the new generation while Stone River members look forward to each and every show as a celebration of their gratitude and passion for life.
While not totally retro, the band’s music has the tight harmonies and musical depth of early 70’s Rock while containing a variety of influences from Folk to Metal. 'This isn’t pre-packaged pop or sound-alike grunge for the masses. It’s real Rock, for people who love Rock’N Roll." - The Toronto Star.
alright, so people always say happy hump day for Wednesdays. I think its just as strange to say happy Uphill on Tuesdays, or happy Downhill on Thursdays, but i've never ever seen or heard anyone wish that. -Brandon
