Pancreatic cancer research is NO MORE advanced than breast cancer research was in the 1930’s... The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is a nationwide network of people dedicated to working together to advance research, support patients and create hope for those affected by pancreatic cancer.

Pancreatic cancer is the 4th leading cause of cancer death in the United States. 75% of pancreatic cancer patients die within the first year of their diagnosis and only 5% survive more than 5 years; that's the LOWEST survival rate of ALL major cancers. There are no early detection methods. There is NO CURE.

We desperately need more federal funding going to pancreatic cancer research if we are going to change these statistics. Here is what’s been gong on: federal support for cancer research has been declining for the last few years

•few of those dollars get allocated for pancreatic cancer research

•funding shortage is causing researchers who have an interest in pancreatic cancer research to choose other fields

•denial of funding for established talented pancreatic cancer research scientists

Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is making an impact. We have increased federal funding for pancreatic cancer research from $17 million in 1999 to $74 million in 2006. However, this is simply not enough.

    My dad passed on May 9th 2009 from Pancreatic cancer...He was a wonderful man.. George Armand July 13, 1931 to May 9th, 2009. My mom died from breast cancer 9 years ago and my dad chose to pass on her birthday! What a wonderful gift he gave her.
