Catapulting The Last Stone

Catapult: If someone or something catapults or is catapulted through the air, they are thrown very suddenly, quickly, and violently through it.

How the catapult works? Very simple. You pull it back, release it, and the object rams forth.

The Catapult is also a projectile throwing engine of the Ancients. Before the age of cannons, the Catapult WAS the mighty cannon the siege engine.

I (Al Sayf) spoke to Suhaimi today (30th September 2005); the last remaining member (besides myself) from the original Stompin Ground line-up. We have decided to do one last album to end our 18 year old collaboration after which we will put the band on ice. The mammoths plight.

With this last offering, we hope to reignite the flame to the older and younger generation alike so that they may continue the struggle for us and hopefully well be there to help them out when needed.

I understand we are not the biggest of influence to the Hardcore generation but at the same time we didnt sit back to watch others try and mock them as they fail. We ran with them and tried as hard to pummel through walls of rock and iron what we commonly refer to as barriers. I like to think that when Stompin Ground said We Set The Pace, we didnt mean just us. We meant the whole Eastern/Asian Hardcore crew.

This last effort will be for all those who have supported us thus far. And for the skeptics, it will be a fist in your face. Like the catapult, were going to pull ourselves backwards (go back to our roots, in this case, Hardcore), release our clutches and hopefully rip through walls/barriers (again) for the very last time. It will be our final stone.

Im planning on a double CD release. The first CD will be our new and last album. The second CD will be comprised strictly of cover songs songs that started it all for us and songs that inspire us; be it local bands or those overseas. It might be limited but it will surely be affordable, as always.

Suhaimi and me will re-open Reconstrux Records to release this album. And hopefully it will not stop there as we plan to continue releasing albums from Hardcore bands from just about anywhere in the world with the rebirth of Reconstrux Records.

As I told Suhaimi earlier today Id rather we die strong than continue weak.

Stompin Ground may very soon (a year maybe?) be cast in stone, but the legacy we have helped generate will continue through others. Hopefully, we will not be forgotten.

All the band members are still very good friends and ending the band wont affect our relationship. Weve all grown to become part of each others family throughout the years. The end of Stompin Ground will most definitely not affect the bond of our friendship. It will also mark the resurrection of Reconstrux Records. So in a way were still collaborating, only this time well be helping other bands instead.

Many years have passed. Weve opened doors of greater possibilities for the younger generation. The spirit of LCHC will live on with or without us!!

Make way for the cannons!!

Biography

Formed in '87-'88. Released a demo, a CD-EP, 2 full lengths and still terrorizing. Al Sayf (drummer) still runs his underground label/distro, Dies Irae Productions ( http://www.diesiraeproductions.com/ ) to this present day. That is all you need to know.
