STORM was formed in June 2003, in Long Island, New York. Originated by drummer Dave Culross and guitarist Steve Seigerman, the band was started as a musical venture into directions different from each of their professional bands. Dave has been the drummer for two national acts - Malevolent Creation, and Hate Plow on Nuclear Blast Records, Worldwide. Steve was involved in both Welt and IronLung on Die Hard Records.
As Dave and Steve worked together, they realized their collaboration was producing material and a sound that would demand a new band. Over the next two years of experimentation with a variety of guitarists, bassists, and vocalists, they found Chris Basile, guitarist for Pyrexia, a Long Island based metal band on Crash/Caroline Records. Chris' guitar playing was the perfect synergy to Steve's. Together they were able to develop an intense and solid style that set them and the evolving band apart from all others. That strength, plus Daves world-class drumming, set the bar high as they renewed their efforts to find a vocalist with the talent and versatility the new music required. After several different tryouts, it was not looking good. The band could not find somebody who could be, not only a singer, but a lyricist and a dedicated musician. Discouraged, but not giving up, the bands search went on. Finally, in September 2005, they came across Matt Storm, a potential talent out of Syracuse, NY.
Matt was involved in several bands but none that could propel him to be the true front man for a headliner. The band had an albums worth of material written, but without lyrics or vocals. The music was heavy riffing based on Dave's, Steve's and Chris' metal backgrounds, but was written with radio/commercial playability as well. Matts voice was a sound like no other they had heard complimenting the music perfectly making him an instant fit at the time. With the main line-up complete, the bands musical compositions turned into memorable songs.
As experienced national and international performers, all of the band members understand the value of an outstanding live show! The bands current CD demo, recorded at Full-Force Studios in NY, with the sole intent of finding a label to call home, is already being acclaimed as a sound unheard before. STORM has a new brand of heavy rock n roll, incorporating hook after hook, riff after riff, song after song, with the potential for numerous singles/hits. The unique mixture of heavy music with melodic vocals has allowed STORM to cater to a much broader age group than most heavy bands. Unfortunately, communication problems between Matt and the rest of the band soon made it hard for the band to continue working together in unicen leaving this line-up currently inactive. New projects with Dave, Steve and Chris continue as well as various solo projects and other ventures from these 3 core members...all info will be posted here on the site as it becomes available!
