Norm's Blurbs |
About me:
I live in Woodstock, New York, THE Woodstock, (you know "Peace, Love, Spare Change?") People tell me I'm a Legend here, (or as the late Dave Van Ronk said "I'm not a legend. I'm just a rumor") but it's not easy being a Legend. They also tell me I'm an awsome guitar player. I've been playing guitar for 40 plus years and seem to have developed my own style: "Normie Pickin" according to my friend John (He doesn't have a computer so I can't make him a "friend" here on Myspace). In 1994, when there was a 25th Anniversary Woodstock Festival, (again, not in Woodstock but just down the road, much closer that time) I'm told I was on MTV, but I never saw it because I don't watch TV.
For many years (maybe too many) I was part of a group call "Hudson River Sloop Singers" part of the Clearwater Organization which was started by Pete Seeger.
I have young friends, teenagers even, who really like what I play because I still get off on playing like I did when I was their ages. It's very gratifying. I tell them to keep playing for the enjoyment, if nothing else, and be thankful for little things (they may be all your gonna get!) You'd be suprised. Sometimes things just fall into place.

Who I'd like to meet:
People who like playing music for the enjoyment of it and old friends.
PS
I, like most people who play music, if they're honest, enjoy playing more than listening. I don't "buy" much music. Once in awhile someone will give me a recording and I'll listen to it once then let it collect dust. I much prefer live music to anything recorded. I'm spoiled I guess.
