Storytelling Arts of Indiana was founded in 1987. Since then, it has grown by leaps and bounds, but our mission remains the same: to promote the art and use of storytelling in everyday life. From local favorites to nationally-recognized names, Storytelling Arts has brought tellers from all walks of life to Hoosier audiences for over two decades. The 2008-09 Season began with the Printing Partners Hoosier Storytelling Festival, a four-day story extravaganza held every autumn at Military Park. Our season continues into late April with the Barnes & Thornburg Storytellers Theater, including performances by Bill Harley, Carrie Newcomer, David Gonzalez, Donald Davis and more.
In addition to the annual festival and full schedule of storytelling concerts, Storytelling Arts of Indiana also provides:
Weekly storytelling at Riley Children’s Hospital
Monthly As I Recall Storytelling Guild Meetings at the Glendale Branch Library
Summer performances in the Neighborhood Parks through Indy Parks & Recreation
A workshop for teachers, “Using Storytelling as an Educational Tool: Teaching English/Language Arts State Standards though Storytelling Activities for grades K-5”
