Lets say the Swingset, Super Mario as well as Super Nintendo, Halo, Princess Adam, Old School Nickelodeon, Sharpie's, Myspace, Pink (the Color), Make up, Top Hats, crazy hair, and of course, girls pants and spirit fingers!!
Two years ago they were just kids with hopes, dreams, and ambitions. Playing during their high school years in a five piece band called Faceless Amy. In which they honed and discovered their sound. Due to certain problems concerning the drummer of the band and the bass player going off to college, they needed to find new members. After searching for a few months, True Story recruited Randall Garrett to play drums and Tyler Gorrell to play bass. After receiving the new members, the band decided they needed a new name. So, after a few weeks of coffee, ice cream and excitement, True Story was born! It didn't end there though.
After a year of playing shows, the band decided to record an EP. They signed to a local label, SetX Records. They recorded the EP in January of 2006 at the Control Room Studio. Unfortunately Jairo was forced to live in Texarkana because of the tragedy caused by the Hurricane Rita in October. The release of the "Let's hit the streets, take out the lights" had to be postponed until April 21, 2005. When cd release came around, the band realized the following they had built in the area. The band played numerous shows to support the EP. In July of 2006 a strapping young lad named Justin Babineaux joined the band and brought a new dynamic and changed the band's sound. in Feburary of 2007 they recorded their second EP with SetX Records "The Pursuit" which will be out May 19th and are at the moment playing outside of their local area to spread their music to a broader spectrum of people.
Now, history out of the way, its time to talk about the music. A defining aspect of the music is the melodic keyboard provided by Josh throughout each song. Mixing that together with the attack and harmonizing of Jairo's and Justin's guitars along with Courtney Rogers' beautiful vocals: It sounds like how fireworks would, if the colors made sounds (other than the huge boom). Those three aspects come together perfectly with Randall's sold drums and Tyler's rhythmic bass. True Story is constantly refining and improving their sound to appeal to their crowd and if you don't believe me, go to a show sometime.
Overall they love their fans, and even go out of their way to talk to and make friends with their fans. They also try to help along bands that have just started on the scene, and they love to help promote the local scene as much as possible. Most importantly, they'd love to see you at a show of their's soon!
