About me: The Story Week Festival of Writers. The Lollapalooza of belles-lettres. Innovative. Intelligent. Energetic. Youthful. Cool.
Story Week has quickly waxed into one of the most singular and highly anticipated events on the Chicago literary landscape.
Over the past 13 years, this annual festival has welcomed a veritable who’s-who of the finest writers: Hubert Selby Jr., Irvine Welsh, Anchee Min, Salman Rushdie, Sherman Alexie, Dorothy Allison, Junot Diaz, Ray Bradbury, Sandra Cisneros, Dave Eggers, John McNally, Edwidge Danticat, Edward P. Jones, Yan Geling, Jonathan Lethem, the mighty Studs Terkel and the list goes on.
Held at venues throughout the city, Story Week offers readings, conversations with authors, panels, performances, live music, and book signings that are free and open to the general public.
A presentation of the Columbia College Chicago Fiction Writing Department, Story Week is made possible in part by a grant from the Illinois General Assembly. This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency. Story Week is sponsored in part by the Chicago Public Library and Metro. The host hotel, located in downtown Chicago, 1 block from Columbia College and within easy proximity to major attractions, the Hilton Chicago offers historic luxury and
contemporary amenities. For reservations call 877/865-5321.
The 13th Annual Story Week Festival of Writers: “Writing on the Edge” will take place March 15 through 20, 2009. Scheduled to appear: Richard Price, and acclaimed writers Francine Prose, Marcus Sakey, Lydia Millet, Nami Mun, Bayo Ojikutu, and other distinguished guests. Music by JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound.
Just wondering if anyone wanted to have some art done; I'm in dire need of the work so feel free to check out my albums and pass the word. Also doing trades, and willing to travel a bit if necessary...Preferably for tattoo parties if that's a concept. I also do traditional art, photo-retouching and fixing, graphic design, freelance research and writing, (I'm sort of a Jack-of-All-Trades), portraitures, etc...
Special deals or musical groups, military, Art/Educational groups and students!!
SPREAD THE WORD!
Also, check out some of my original music here on my profile playlist if you haven't already and let me know what you think.
By the way…We are planning a move to Charleston so let me know if anyone knows of a studio space in the town applicable to tattooing privately (I prefer Japanese style, custom, personal settings over the average tattoo shop effect anyway. Must be clean and comfortable)
Still offering exceptional deals on custom tattoos and art! I may also be up for trade or travel. Pass the word and give me a call with any ideas you may have. Check out my new pics and songs if you haven't already.
Thanks for the add! If you haven’t already, please check out my novel, GETTING IN TUNE, and hear the fictional Killjoys at www. rogertrott. com. The story is about an angst-ridden guitarist who drags his band onto the road in search of the transcendent power of Pete Townshend’s Universal Chord. It’s a wild ride through the world of ‘70s rock & roll. Best—Roger Trott
