StowFest is a free annual music festival on the Recreation Ground in Stowmarket featuring a wide range of music styles and showcasing some of the best bands in the region.
The event was launched in 2007 and was a great success. 2008 hasn't been such a success so far as the event, originally scheduled for the 25th May, had to be called off due to the weather. However, we've rescheduled for Sunday 31st August so get the date in your diaries!
This years event will feature three stages: The Main Stage (sponored by Buildbase), The MAP Acoustic Stage and The Amplitude Stage. The line up includes OverTheSun, HipShot, Small Town Bullies, The Vagaband, The Ron Sayer Band, The Folk Collective, FuzzFace, The Ballistics, Mohawk, Tom Parkes, Songs From The Blue House, Hannah Scott, Darwyn, The Ragged String Band, Marina Florance, The Black Flowers plus loads of young bands from the Amplitude Project.
Keep an eye out for the StowFest CD that will be on sale on the day. The excellent 13-track compilation CD features tracks donated by many of the artists who are playing at the event and will be available for just £5. All proceeds from the sale of the CD will be donated to Operation Santa Claus - many thanks to Coffeehouse Productions for duplicating the CDs free of charge.
Also proceeds from programme sales as well as income generated from the hire of commercial pitches will be donated to the same charity.
