ABOUT US

St Pete for Peace is a non-partisan, grassroots, anti-war organization that was founded in January 2003 during the build-up to the war on Iraq. We meet weekly to denounce war, occupation, imperialism and the injustices facing fellow Americans.

St Pete for Peace is committed to promoting peace, and we believe that:

* The wars and occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan are illegal and immoral, and we must immediately withdraw all troops, military bases, mercenaries, embassies, administrators, and corporate interests from both countries.

* We denounce all U.S. aggression towards Syria, Iran, Venezuela and Cuba, and demand that the U.S. stop supporting the Israeli occupation of Palestine.

* In order to stop blowback on American interests we must change our foreign policy, mainly, our government must stop dictating to other countries how to live and govern their own people. A "non American" way of life is just as important as an "American" way of life. Self-determination is a fundamental right of all.

* We are losing our freedoms and democracy - one way to combat this is to become involved and make our voices heard. We must continue to resist in the most non-violent means possible.

CALL TO ACTION
Join Local Groups And Citizens World Wide Rallying To End the Iraq War
Wednesday, March 19, 2008:
* 11:00am to 1:00pm, rally outside Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite's office, Hernando County Courthouse, 20 North Main Street, Brooksville, FL
* 4:00pm-6:00pm, rally outside Senator Bill Nelson's office, Federal Courthouse, 801 N Florida Avenue, Tampa, FL

On March 19, 2003 the United States launched an illegal and unjust war against the sovereign nation of Iraq. This war has killed more than 1,000,000 Iraqi men, women, and children by some estimates, and has displaced more than 4,000,000. Almost 4,000 American soldiers have lost their lives, and at minimum 29,000 have been injured in an occupation that has lasted longer than World War II, and could end up bankrupting the United States with an estimated cost of over $2 trillion.

Around 70% of Americans agree we must end this war, yet most of our elected officials are turning a blind eye to the wishes of the American majority and the plight of all Iraqis. It is our duty as citizens of the United States to demand an end to the war and occupation of Iraq.

We Must Act Now
Join groups and individual citizens from greater Tampa Bay as we rally in the streets/speak with government officials and media in solidarity with citizens across the country and around the globe on this tragic 5th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. We'll be mourning the dead, wounded, and displaced, and demanding an end the war with two different actions, on in Brooksville, FL and the other in Tampa, FL (see the original site for links to the maps).

Do you want to volunteer to help?
Or does your group want to be involved in the events of March 19?

Stitch N’ Pitch brings together two American traditions - baseball and the needle arts. Join us June 21, 2008, with your knitting, crochet, embroidery, cross-stitch, needlepoint or quilting project. Sit & stitch among friends, family, and colleagues while cheering on the Tampa Bay Rays! This is going to be a great evening full of baseball and crafty goodness.

Fabric, stitchery displays, and camaraderie in a family-friendly atmosphere, not to mention a battle between the Rays and Houston Astros!

Tickets are only $20 and the first 500 stitchers who attend will receive an official Stitch N’ Pitch/Rays tote bag with some complimentary goodies! The Tampa Bay Rays have partnered with The National Needle Arts Association (TNNA) to make this an outstanding community event.

Also, stick around for a post-game concert featuring 80’s band Kool and the Gang!

Use the promo code: STITCH to purchase tickets for this special offer.

Dear St. Pete for Peace: Kollist’s mom

World Peace Before 2021 is honored to by YourFriend. My eight-year-old-peace-activist son Axil’s quest for World Peace Before 2021 is gaining momentum! I'm so proud of him. Please embrace him AND his song "World Peace Before 2021" which he sings beautifully. His performance can be seen on MySpace, his webpage worldpeacebefore2021.com and/or YouTube (by searching his name Axil Kollist.) It is my intention to post a new video of him singing his song every few months so people can watch his talent grow as impressively as the momentum for his quest! Best regards, Axil Kollist’s mom

AMERICA AMERICA “WE THE PEOPLE”

LAND OF THE FREE HOME OF THE BRAVE
OUR COUNTRY “WE” MUST SAVE
IRAQ…..A WAR OF CHOICE WHERE IS OUR VOICE
SHOCK & AWE A WORLD EVENT
REMEMBER “WE” WENT ON LENT
INNOCENT BLOOD SPENT
HAVE “WE” SEEN THE FEMA WRATH
LET US TOGETHER DO THE MATH
OUR REPUTATION & WEALTH DESTROYED
IMPEACHMENT………….VOID
OUR DOLLAR IS DOWN
OUR INTELECTUAL PROPERTIES SOLD AROUND
OUR JOBS FREE TRADED AWAY
OUR PENSIONS STOLEN ONE DAY
NOW FREE MARKETS TAKE OUR HOMES TODAY
HEALTH CARE & EDUCATION STANDARDS A DISGRACE
OUR JUSTICE SYSTEM BY CLASS & RACE
OUR PORTS & BORDERS NOT SECURED TODAY
ALL THOSE TRILLIONS BUSH JR. THREW AWAY
“TERROR” HE DOES SAY
NOW WE THE PEOPLE STILL HAVE A SAY
NETWORK THIS TRUE IMAGE…THAT’S THE WAY
IF “WE” WANT TO STAY FREE
BE PATRIOTIC ONLY TO “WE”

POWER TO THE PEACEFUL

Looks like there was a great turnout of folks in Tampa. Wish I could have been there.

When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it--always.
