"Mild mannered office monkey by day but bedroom guitarist by night".
I've been song writing for nearly 20 years. I was somewhat classically trained but eventually got utterly bored with playing from
sheet music and the snobbery of it all. I just wanted to create and play music that meant something to me.
Hence I took to teaching myself the guitar and keyboards. I count as my influences U2 and Pink Floyd amongst others. Over the
years I learnt to appreciate a wide range of musical tastes from Goldfrapp to Bob Dylan, Whitesnake to Nora Jones.
I've done the odd few public performances here and there over time but nothing major to get me noticed. I have my own home studio
and support other bands with my "kit".
I haven't hungered for fame; I've so far resisted auditioning for the X Factor. Not really my kind of thing and I'm pretty sure
they'll turn me down. None the less I still find the programme very entertaining and Simon Cowell is my hero (but don't hold that
against me)!
I'm more than interested in collaborating with other like minded folk especially if they want to play my songs live (especially
those with a better singing voice than mine). Drop me a line.
Hey, Tonight things change, home studio recording is not an end so we put tonight new and old stuff recording in real conditions…To make a choice was an hard thing but here it is: 2 old songs and 2 news ones ( not allowed to put more in the player…) Please come and listen, it will be great to have your feedback…
The first edit of the new (and as yet untitled) song that I've been working on is now available for critical views via my Music Page site!
I've still got some of the 'guest' instrument tracks to sort out, as well as the vocals to write and record, but I'm relatively happy enough with it so far to give it its first airing.
Don't forget that we are at Riffs Bar this Thursday June 14th for the Midsummer Night of the Ocelot with suport from Axess Denied and Mike Booth.
The Ocelot Magazine reviewed our last gig, commenting " The Swindon five piece tell me they wanted to be astonauts, gigolos and cartoonists but in the end they decided they'll settle on being rock stars - They certainly didn't disappoint in that regard. Playing lots of original songs - always a good sign - Dropstone's style was fantastically varied - a hard rock element at its base but with plenty of screeching guitar solos and a technical ability that surpasses most other bands in that genre...and were full deserving of their encore at the end."
We were in the recording studio yesterday and 5 of the 7 songs are now on our myspace page - it would be great if you could let us know what you think.
hey!
how are you doing?
over on our site were looking to make a folder of photos from the x factor tour or any run ins you may have had with the lads yourself!
if you could help us out it would be much appreciated! just send the pictures to macdonaldbrothers@yahoo.co.uk
thanx
