A chilling new series!

"MYSTERIOUS WORLD" is an anthology series of strange, supernatural parables that explores humanity's hopes and darkest fears, exposing a fantastic world that exists between light and shadow, between reality and fiction, between the living and the dead. For Executive Producer Philip Silverman, this is the first of its kind series for the Vietnamese market. We hope people will find it new and exciting. There are so many gifted Vietnamese artists in the community. This series offers just one more opportunity for these individuals to showcase their talents. The series was created by Victor Vu, the director of such films as OAN HON and FIRST MORNING. One of my favorite shows while growing up in America was Rod Serlings The Twilight Zone, says Victor Vu. Mysterious World is not only about ghosts and demons, but also the experiences and events in our lives that cannot be explained through human logic or understanding. However, unlike The Twilight Zone, I want to create a series that incorporates cultural themes and beliefs that are unique to the Vietnamese. In Vietnamese with English Subtitles.

EPISODE 1: LOVE NEVER DIES After suffering her third miscarriage, a young woman desperately struggles to sustain her health as well as her marriage. When she is haunted by bizarre visions and strange voices from beyond the grave, she discovers that her unhappiness is rooted, not in the present, but in the past.

First Morning begins when a young man returns home on the threshold of the Lunar New Year and finds himself a stranger within his own family. The cold silence surrounding the disappearance of his younger sister forces him on a quest for answers. Through his search, we are given a glimpse of the familys fragmented past. From their perilous escape from Vietnam, to their separation, to their struggle with marred relationships, the family continues to endure the tragedies of false expectations.

First Morning is a movie about the path from lost identity to self-discovery and from alienation to hope and rebirth. Victor Vu, who was born and raised in Los Angeles after his parents immigrated to the U.S. in 1975, sees his familys history as the inspiration for First Morning. There have been countless films about Vietnam, most of which deal with the war. I was most interested in telling a personal story about the destruction of family and the difficult journey towards healing in the aftermath of war.

The Metro Silicon Valley Weekly called the film, heartfelt, serious, and deliberate. While the North County Times says, First Morning is a well-made poignant and ultimately hopeful film.
