Strange Devotion originally started when Dominic Butler was offered a gig at the Harrogate Folk and Blues festival in 1982. He was 'between bands' at that time so the only way of avoiding losing the gig was to play it solo. During the gig he played a couple of Korg ms-10 synths along to a backing track and sang vocals. He was joined on stage by Heather Jolly on tamborine and Strange Devotion was born.
Strange Devotion lasted less than 1 year, duirng which time Dominic recorded 2 songs in a local Studio and made a video to go with each of these tracks. The video also featured Heather on synths and Jeremy Black on drums.
The Strange Devotion project was restarted in 2006 and it still retains the ethos of the punk era with raw, simple songs without too much emphasis on staying in key or hitting exactly the right note.
LATEST NEWS: The debut Strange Devotion single is available now on Mauerstadtmusik Records. It is a very special limited edition of 500 copies pressed on 7" vinyl with card insert and features the 2 Strange Devotion songs recorded in April 1982 - Again The New Formation b/w Danger Line.
Hi Strange Devotion, thanks for continuing to be a friend of Electroflex.
Some important news!
Electroflex have been back in the studio following a break from gigging and recording with new track ‘Computer Virus’.
This is the first of a series of new releases for 2009, and what better day to start on than Liz’s Birthday!
‘Computer Virus’ is a live favourite. Anyone forced to work with computers will know how evil they are and this track is Electroflex’s response to Kraftwerk’s ‘Its More Fun to Compute’. It is a bouncy number with a serious bassline, sing-along chorus and a selection of curious samples.
The track will only be up on Myspace in full for a short time. Alternatively, visit our Facebook and iLike pages where you can add the song to you playlists
