Strangeletter began as the works, writings, and recordings of Steve Bayless. Taking shape in 2005,
Strangeletter's sweeping, layered, orchestral sound was crafted and honed in Steve's Portland, Oregon home studio over the course of several years. Many of the tracks that came out of that period comprise Strangeletter's first official self-titled album, independently released in early 2009.
In 2009, Steve enlisted the musical talents of his close friends to help perform the material live. With Phillip Ferrier on drums, Paul Carrigg (of The Supraphonics) on bass, Andy Manla (of Jippedo) on synths and backing vocals, Elina Niemelä on keyboards and piano, and Steve as lead guitar and vocals, Strangeletter solidified its live lineup as a five-piece ensemble.
As a band, Strangeletter makes for a dense and energetic show. With elements of electronic-industrial, heavy progressive rock, and intense soulful vocal melodies, Strangeletters tightly woven songs build, and break down arrangements to find all the places a song can go. Strangeletter is currently based out of Portland, Oregon, and is booking shows in and around the Northwest.

Hey finally took a chance to listen to your music. It's amazing! Coming from a big time Ministry fan I can totally dig this. I'm currently trying to piece together my Industrial band up here in Bellingham. How can I get some copies of your music?
I'm digging the music. Thanks for the friend request. Will listen more; probably find something to download or buy; you guys catch my inner groove. Would love to have drums like that--I've been working with this crappy drum machine forever and it kinda kills the spontaneity. Anyway, thanks again, and keep doing what you're doing. Love Portland...make your way up to Oly or to Vancouver and I'll help you fill yr show.
