About me:

The Photos presented in the Slide Show below are handmade designs by Jean Stranquist. To view larger images look below Slide and click *view all images. Stranquist. EST. 1989 by artist and fashion designer Jean Stranquist. With a sound background in the apparel industry and theater, training with the International leather designer Marc Buchanan of Pelle Pelle in Detroit, then moving to California in 1979. A referral by a salesman for Larry Mahan boots pointed the direction to then young designer Barbara Grimes of Gossamer Wings where Stranquist in had with different leather techniques helped expand her collections. Over the years entertainers and a number of musicians have worn Stranquist Designs including Ron Wood of the Rolling Stones. Clothing for films in Los Angeles, private label custom leathers and suede commissions for several high-end designers collections and a special performance by Opera’s Diva June Anderson's singing her first Russian piece Mozeppa at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center 1994. Focusing attention to detail, fabrication and silhouettes, Stranquist has created a unique look for Stranquist Clothing Design Studio. Drawing from her eye as an artist and sculptor, she combines technical aspects in apparel design together with other art disciplines. Stranquist continues today in her Studio, designing and making couture influenced clothing for today: in-house productions, work with private clientele, design commissions, and ready to wear styles which can be viewed by appointment.
