Sounds Like
A good day when you least expect one. That song thats just on the tip of your tongue. Nothing you've ever heard before. Yet you can't help but feel like you have, you just can't quite put your finger on where... The lead singer has been told his voice sounds like he left his balls in 1998, and the band has that funky, reggae-laced rock that makes you wanna dance and sing along.
Straw Man formed in October of 2002. Friends Grayson and Miller and Graysons brother Devin decided to pool their efforts to create a sound that was their own. Growing, playing with, and learning from each other, formed the foundation for what would become one of the most unique and entertaining acts on the local music scene today.
Since that time they have created well over 40 original songs while performing around the middle Tennessee area.
Miller, Devin and Grayson were influenced heavily by the genres of rock, reggae, blues and jazz, mixing and matching the four to create an awesome sound- namely, "reggarock-blazz", while staying as close to the original roots as possible. The three band members were influenced by a number of super-bands, including Incubus, Sublime, 311, They Might Be Giants, and The Beatles.
In August of '04 the band added guitarist Allen Wylie, Millers brother, into the group. Allen's fresh, new rhythm guitar smoothed out and accentuated the bands sound at the time.
In October of '06, the McDonald brothers and the Wiley brothers went there seperate ways, due to a bitter disagreement on who cut who off first, and the McDonald brothers, Devin and Grayson, carried on the Straw Man legecy, recriuting new bass player Ron Denson in the process.
The band has performed at such venues as the Exit/In, Inferno bar, The End, Gentleman Jim's, The Cannery Ballroom, The M.U.S.E., Wall Street, The Warehouse, and more. Currently they are in the planning stages of recording an album with a new production company/studio thats just getting off the ground. This is the start of an aggressive push to play as much as possible in effort to realize their dream: to make a living doing that which they love.

'Twas another dull Thursday
And all through the town
Nothing new or exciting
Was anywhere found.
Then suddenly an announcement
That made the folks tingle
Playing at the Pond tonight, Brandon Ingle!
That was not all for them to musically savor-
Along with Brandon, the stylings of Ben Caver!
So come one and all, twenty-one plus
Be there at nine, and bring five bucks
Prepare yourself for a musical sensation
This Thursday night at
The Pond in Franklin!
